They really just need to fix guys with career ending injuries in the CBA. Who cares what age they are I mean look at the LITR list and tell me do those guys really need to be there. Just write off the contract for the team he got hurt on and be done with it. No cap hit if there is documented medical that the guy can not play again.

Yes, they really need to be there on a team's cap.

Game of the season tomorrow, Blue Jackets (14 game win streak) vs Wild (12 game win streak)

Whose streak will end?

Whose will continue?

More to come.

League appointed doctor declares their career over after review of charts and an exam.

Contract terminated. No cap hit anywhere.

No more shenanigans like Arizona/Florida/Jersey have used to hit the floor.

For MacDonald, sure.

The Sabres could use a dman since Bogo has shockingly missed most of the season.

Even without that rule, Pronger wouldn't have retired and given up all the money he was owed.

Savard never retired and and he started his contract as a 33 year old. He's currently on the Devils roster after being traded from Florida who got him from Boston.

but its ridiculous that you have to LTIR the player

I love that most jerseys you buy have the C or A if they apply.

You don't have to if you have cap space. Savard isn't on LTIR, just IR. As is Clowe.

Konecny

Contract terminated means that players don't get paid the money they're owed. The only change I think that is necessary, is how players who are declared unable to play again, are counted in the off season. There is always the remote possibility that a player who is considered not able to play again, could recover and continue their career.

That's obvious, just asking what the issue is? It works perfectly for what it is designed to do.

Fine buyout in place with current salary structure (so player gets their money) but no cap hit or maybe less of a cap hit (i think nba is 50%) until player is deemed able to play again or end of contract.

We have a very similar collection.
I have Desjardins
JVR
Simmonds
Jake
Giroux (50th)
Provy (stadium)

I won't lie, I almost purchased a Vinny jersey when we first got him bc I was so excited by the signing. He was a favorite of mine growing up.

I'd probably have some older ones but I couldn't get a jersey until I could buy it myself.

Tocchet, Howe, and McCrimmon would probably be added. I'll have to look about getting a throwback for Howe if it's possible.

Vinny was a great player for TB. I just was worried he'd be what he was here.

the CBA really needs to be addressed when it comes to the over 35 rule and career ending injuries.
- nastyflyergirl

Exactly.

Concussions are funny in that after one you can probably find a doctor who wont clear you, and after 10 a doctor who will clear you.

How is it a buyout if the player gets the same salary? Think about what the League wants to do, and why there is a salary cap.
