beginning of the season I thought for sure it would be davidson or pouliot taken in the expansion draft.
but as of today, its probably maroon. dude brings a ton to the table. its crazy how effective he is for being such a poor skater.
just for argument sake assuming no changes till we make our protected list
lucic
eberle
nuge
draisaitl
klefbom
larsson
sekera
talbot
one spot open.
i lean towards protecting davidson as depth on defence is so huge in todays nhl, but man it would suck to see patty go.
that said, if we expose davidson and protect maroon instead, we could forego the 8+1 goalie route and go the 7+3+1 route. which then allows us to protect another forward along with maroon.
maybe someone like caggiula who an expansion team might be looking at to add to a young roster. doubt hed be picked anyway, but itd be nice to protect.
under that scenario its davidson or pouliot gone for sure
side note- pouliot had a helluva game last night - HB77
If I was making the list today I'd protect
Lucic
Eberle
Nuge
Draisaitl
Letestu
Maroon
Pitlick
Klefbom
Larsson
Sekera
Talbot
I'd expose Pouliot in the hope that Vegas grabs him over Davidson. |

I see Tyler Benson has signed. I think that's going to work out to be a great pick. |

forgot about ole pitlick.
poor guy. love the way he was playing, and it just goes to prove development is not linear. but yeah--another season ender is gonna be tough.
im actually sorta hopin pc makes a move and nabs a big fish on the wing. (duch or landy )
and going the 7-3-1 route wed be able to protect said player. make it easier to deal ebs for picks etc in the offseason too. (as of now we flat out couldnt afford to lose him)
id assume itd start with nurse though which is a steep price. have to find a way to make sure we didnt lose davidson (maxs suggestion type deal) in that case though |

You aren't getting Duchene or Landeskog without giving up actually good pieces back, so get out of your own ass and fantasy land already.
You would be losing a Drai, a Klefbom in any move for those guys so drop it |

still?
to be fair, there was alot of valid negative things to say about the organization over the years.
but tough to still be hating on this team right now.
great tending.
a serviceable nhl backend.
depth up front.
this team is not just the connor show.
at the very least, its gone from a bottom feeder to a middling team that can give anyone a run for their money on any night |

Heading into the season he was projected to be a top 15 pick. If he didn't get injured or was listed as 6'2" instead of 6'0" he probably would have went mid first round. I can't lie, I was hoping he would slip to NJ in round 2. |

relax.
and i did mention "nurse to start"
and no, there would be no sideways deal for those guys.
if the avs do in fact move said pieces, theres no logic for a team to give them back a comparable piece in a guy like draisaitl.
one could say hes better than either right now.
why would anyone acquiring those guys to make a run, just create another huge hole?
if the avs go that way, its scorched earth approach for a bunch of bluechip pieces and picks.
unless maybe its with another bottom feeder i guess. |

Wont relax, bc its annoying to see the same crap about the Avs best players. Stuff like that reminds of of Leaf fans who or the Sabre fans who hang out in Garths thread. We can trade our unwanted pieces for other teams prime players.
Thats my point, teams who want to make a run aren't going to be talking to the Avs and aren't going to be good trade partners. Why would they take 3 years back in become a real team just to take future packages. There is no need to blow it up like you are proposing, they can overhaul their Top 9 next season without trading any guys bc they get so much crap off the roster.
If Avs start doing the Young 3rd line guy, Prospect, and 1st round deals. Im done with them. They are not a farm system for other teams to win stanley cups with.
If you want them, pony up for them, bc you are going to have to Over spend to get them |

where in any post was it mentioned our unwanted players for your prime players?
as far as who makes for a good trade partner, i dunno.
depends on how desperate of a situation sakic thinks the avs are in. is it just a hiccup? or something more fundamental? if its just a hiccup, then theres probably no trade that makes sense for those guys. (maybe a sideways trade with another bottom feeder as mentioned)
but if hes convinced of something else, a whole host of other potential trade offers from other teams become possibilities.
you might disagree, but i think nurse is an absolutely fair starting point if in fact the avs were considering dealing landeskog |

Change 'Avs' to 'Oilers' and you sound a lot like many did here For your sake I hope it doesn't take moving one of those top forwards, but whether you like it or not, that D corps is not pretty and the Avs are lacking high-end guys in the pipeline.
Before there's any misunderstanding, I'm not supporting that Nurse+ deal; just commenting on the hilarious similarities. |

Who do the Avs expose at the expansion draft Varlamov or Pickard? - Mr.Bobby
Varly for sure. Cap hit is higher, his numbers have been consistently getting worse (alongside the team itself) and his exposure might be enough to attract LVs attention away from Grigorenko. Getting Beauch to waive his NMC would help avoid exposing him in the first place, but that's far from a certainty. |
