I really don't think that the Av's should trade Duchene unless its to my favorite team.
I would though like to see Yakupov on the Av's. I think Yak paired with Duchene and Mackinnon would be one fast line. I think the Av's could probably get Yak for a mid round pick.

This just makes me feel bad.
As for the Shatty/Duchene rumour, seems fair. The conditional could be no higher than a 3rd if he doesn't re-sign though. |

Shattenkirk, Rattie, 2018 conditional pick
For
Duchene, Lindholm
Great deal IF Shattenkirk re-signs. Extremely risky otherwise. Even if that pick is a first if they lose Shattenkirk this is still a bad deal. If they re-sign him though this is getting more than max value for Duchene as you will never get a top defenseman and a high end prospect for Duchene like that. High risk high reward. Though this really makes it weird:
Feb. 2011 trade:
Shattenkirk, Stewart, 2011 2nd (32nd - Ty Rattie)
For
Johnson, McClement, 2011 1st (11th - Duncan Siemens)
Bacially the way you look at it is St. Louis got the better defenseman and somehow the better prospect but that was all due to luck. The forwards are now gone and were meaningless.
So if you combine these deals you get:
Johnson, Duncan Siemens, 2018 conditional pick
For
Duchene
Yikes I do not think any Shattenkirk deal will look amazing but still it could be worse I suppose.
Overall this deal can work out great for Colorado but considering if he doesn't re-sign you basically give up Duchene for a top 9 young forward and a 1st then this is way too risky of a deal. The only I do this as the Avalanche is if they get the first even if they trade Shattenkirk at the trade deadline.
For Colorado you get two months to negotiate with Shattenkirk and if it doesn't work out you move him for a high end prospect and a 1st in 2017 making the deal:
A young NHL ready prospect, a blue chip prospect, 1st in 2017, 1st in 2018 for Duchene. That isn't bad.
It still works with St. Louis as they get a top line center in his 20s and signed for a rental you would lose anyway, a NHL ready prospect and a 1st. Maybe they ask for a conditional mid round pick back should he be traded from Colorado. I don't know.
Hahaha usually complicated clever deals never happen so that should be the answer. |

Avalanche team is too thin on offense to get rid of Duchene. It will not happen. |

Maybe Iginla and pick/prospect for Shattenkirk, he's not worth duchene imo, plus the added fact colorado has to give up one of their best players for someone they traded away, I would hope they dont make another Shattenkirk trade mistake. It's not happening, atleast not with duchene I hope...... |

Avs not going anywhere this year, no reason to throw away a talent like Duchene for a Dman that 'might' resign. Seems too silly to be true, but does fit into a 'rumour' sized paragraph!
Sounds like St Louis trying to up the value of their piece to some unsuspecting sucker.............NYC??? |
