Not thrilled with Cousins on the wing, nor do I get Coot's visa issues, but oh well. OTOH, I'm really thrilled to see so many Flyers prospects playing at the WJC and I'm just happy there is a Flyers game to watch tonight
Guess it is about the taxman and not really a visa issue. |

I think Cousins will be on the wing a lot once Couturier is back. Schenn has played center ahead of him for a while now. |

Forbie and the Rock can't wait to get at those damned Plagers and the rest of the arch-rival Blues. |

I guess they're gonna go with Schultz and Dupont vs the Plager brothers.
Sadly, no one under 50 probably has any idea what I'm talking about

Hope everyone had a happy holiday. Been absent from here the last couple of days as I came down with pneumonia on Thursday. Out of curiosity, is the upcoming draft supposed to be another deep one? I really haven't heard much compared to the last two seasons other than Nolan Patrick (and his injury). If the draft is not supposed to be a deep one, and the Flyers finish around the 20th pick again, would offer sheeting Panarin or Drouin interest anyone? I know offer sheets really aren't a thing anymore, but both teams are going to have difficulty signing each player imo. Hawks just don't have the space and Tampa has to also sign Johnson and Palat. Thoughts? |

I like offer sheets. I'd rather give up players they were down on than numerous first round picks, but offer sheets are at least a lot of fun |

First off, hope you are feeling better.
I'm not a fan of offer sheets. Yeah, it's within the rules, but is causes a lot of bad blood with other GMs and makes future deals more difficult to make. In his new book, Jay Greenberg cites this as one of the reasons that Holmgren was ready to move up to President and turn the hockey operation over to Hextall. He felt that other GMs resented the offer sheet to Weber and it made his job a lot harder. Plus, my guess is, unless you wildly overpay, the other team will find a way to match anyway.

Thank you! Wow, thats interesting to hear about Homer. I'll have to give Greenberg's book a look, been looking for some new reading material too. I remember hearing one rumor about us "almost" trading Vinny to the Preds but their management staff still had the bad taste of Weber's offer sheet in their mouth. It will be interesting to see what moves Yzerman and Bowman do to keep their players. Drouin should be much easier as a bridge deal can be reached since he's not as big of star in the NHL compared to the Breadman. But Bowman has shown in the past he has no problem trading key players to free up space (most recently with Saad). Will be interesting to see for sure. |

It's so stupid. Let's make sure other teams can afford all of their good players even though we're competing with them. |

How does he have a visa issue? Wasn't he practicing with the Flyers before his scheduled return? So what, he goes home to pick up his favorite stick after practicing with the Flyers on Tuesday and can't get back into the country? This doesn't make any sense. |

I agree with you, but it seems that other GMs will stick together and try to screw any GM that makes an offer sheet. You have to wonder if this is coming from the owners or the GMs.

I know, but the "rumor" still involved the Preds management still being ticked off, even with Hexy as the GM. Still managed to get rid of him so no harm no foul. |

Excellent news. I hope he helps us get on another streak. I worried that we'd go into the tank after losing him. Really surprised to see us go on the 10 gamer. Testament to the way mase and others stepped up. |
