I see now that the Flyers have lost a few games, some posters are back in their comfort zone. It must have been torture for them, when the Flyers went on a 10 game win streak!

Honestly, the Flyers look like they could lose ten in a row right now. There were a lot of questionable decisions made by our coach last night and the team seems to be getting out worked by their opponents. The Blues, Predators and Devils aren't exactly world beaters.

I couldn't agree more. The everything is terrible crowd is in full force.

Gee who would think that over a course of an 82 game season there would never be any ebbs and flows good and bad.

I think everyone on this board wants the Flyers to win, however if they have a bad night people will call them out. Unfortunately they have had a couple bad games in a row with the Sharks up next. This team needs a little more toughness and another scoring winger would help!

Raffl and Read are scoring wingers. Not high scoring, but when they're both hurt it makes a big difference.

Read is a 3rd line player at best. Raffl is a border line 2nd line player IMO.

Flyers are 6th in goals per game and 24th in goals allowed per game, so shoring up the defense (particularly on the PK) seems like a bigger need to me than trading for a high-end scoring winger. That strategy didn't get NJ very far even though Hall is producing points.

He's very good. Read helps keep things stable in the bottom 6 too.

The 4th line needs to go back to playing 4th line minutes

- PhillySportsGuy

Do you mean the Bellemare line? Cause they only played 6 minutes at ES last night.

The Flyers, even when they were winning, they weren't dominating teams. They were playing hard tough hockey, and finding ways to grind out wins. It's a fine line. I disagree with calling it luck, as I feel they earned those wins. Now, they're earning the losses. Failed breakouts, coverage mix ups, led to a disastrous 3rd period. They were outplayed for most of the game, and really were fortunate to have a chance to win in the 3rd.

Nothing wrong with pointing out the mistakes that were made, and analyzing why they lost the game, but the sky is not falling.

You would never be able to tell the Flyers were still the 11th best team in the league based on the tone of this board.

I didn't say luck had to do with anything. The Flyers are a good team on the rise. However, the game was close from a scoreboard standpoint and we've seen dramatic comebacks in the dying seconds of a game. When Hakstol pulled Mason, I honestly thought the Blues took a penalty. When I realized they didn't, I couldn't understand his mindset. I don't think I've ever seen a Flyers Coach pull a goalie in a game where we've been out played in recent memory. A lot of the line ups on a nightly basis does look he he's throwing names at a wall and seeing what sticks.

You've gotta adjust in game sometimes. Did Taylor Leier look like a top line player about to tie up the game on a set up by G or Jake? How much of a difference maker did Weise look last night at even strength? As the time in winding down, I'm not really seeing him shorten the bench and coming with our best. The fact that Cousins and Konecny are being used as the double screen players on the second unit of the PP, explain this to me.

How well thought out is the game plan streaks aside?

Honesty, I think they could be better than 11th. The PP's top unit has jumped off a cliff after being out bread and butter. I wouldn't act as if dropping in the standings can't happen.

Are you serious? Are you suggesting that coaches should only pull a goalie at the end of the game when he thinks they deserve to win? And are you really suggesting that you can't remember that happening before? I seem to remember many games where the Flyers only started trying in the final minutes of the game and I'm sure the goalie was pulled at least once or twice in those situations.

I think the PK and the goalie are the biggest issues. It's very hard to make the playoffs with a .905 starter, but his SV% would be better if the PK didn't poop the bed the last two games, as they have done for most of the last two and a half seasons.

I did not mean to infer that you called it luck. I'm not going to blame the coach for not being able to do the impossible, and cover up for the roster and injury issues they have, with lineup decisions. The Flyers as a team, man to man, got outplayed.

See, love or hate Milbury, this is where I can't disagree with last night's point that led to the first goal. Mason carelessly kept the puck in play on a PK. The puck was close in front of him and he just smacked it forward where anyone could grab it. I'm sure some feel we recovered but unless we get a clear, we're on our toes and in act fast mode. We got scored on. Regardless if it was instant or not we had to scramble.

I agree with you but I do think Hakstol can make in game decisions that should put his players in a position to succeed. A timeout and rip into them. Juggle lines. Shorten the bench as time in running out. I can't stand Dale Weise but he's a big guy who could be useful screening a goalie on the second unit of the PP. I'll tell you Weise will do a better job of blocking a goalie's vision than let's say Martin St Louis.

Are you saying he has not done all of those things? He has. The dynamic of timeout usage has changed, with the invent of the coaches challenge.
