It does deserve a firing when it's 10 years and one playoff win and you stuck with a lousy coach for 7 years and you have not developed young prospects properly.

Unfortunately during those years at Coli, team was hamstrung by Wang bc of losing money, thats why it was a circus act to manage an get to cap floor until the signing of Brooklyn came into effect.

WTF!!!! 1 bad season in 3? How about 9 bad seasons in 10?! Snows had 10 years to make this team a contender. Crappy has had 6 years at the helm. All 3 times they made the playoffs they barely squeaked in. What was this regimes highest seed in the playoffs? 7th? Maybe a 6th, but I believe 7th. I thought Snow was just an emergency replacement for Smith. That he would only be a placeholder for the real GM. He didn't have a problem replacing Nolan or Gordon, but he's got a problem replacing Crappy? Come on, man. Bert is to the GM position as Ernie is to the coaching position.

I guess UR is on the side of Cappy and Snow today. which ever way the wind blows

I'm not giving a pass on the hiring of his buddy Cappy. Another coach not making huge money could have been hired. Young players were still not developed correctly and that is not on the payroll. Sticking Nino on the 4th line with crap had nothing to do with a lousy payroll.

No player was coming here under the country club mentality and crazy Wang, sorry but it was an issue.... New owners and winning (besides this year) has changed the culture of the franchise

- Ur Not Me

that be nice.. he's due also, really hasn't got on the board the last 6-7 gms except 2pts @ NYR.. he's contributed with screens on goals and such so he'll get rewarded at some point if he continues to be in front of the net

1 question, with how lousy Crappy been, does he have a winning record with the franchise?
Plus the coaching decisions are not ideal but just unfortunate for Nino, im a Nino supporter but Gm messed that up, royally

You better have a winning record when you have many years of lottery picks and you get 7 years to coach. One playoff series win is not a good record. Marvin Lewis has a lot of regular season wins and nothing for the playoffs.

Garth had messed up plenty besides of Nino and has to go. I'm not going to blame Wang for everything. Plenty other GM's have done a better job than Garth with lousy payrolls.

New owners yes, Winning, I don't think so. This is the first season as majority ownership and its far from winning. It is at this point a total failure.
The franchise is the same, still run by an ex goalie GM, a coach who was his friend and was hired so the GM would feel unthreatened by said hiring, and still a question of stability if indeed Barclays will be their home or will it be some where else on LI or really who knows?
You gain respect from others in the league by winning and having a true professional organization from top to bottom. I'm sorry the Islanders are far from that.
Quite honestly they are still over paying people to come here or to stay no one gives the team a discount when signing like other teams players.
This is nY but this it isn't the NY Rangers who have a reputation of a first rate organization ( as much as I hate them) however it didn't happen overnight.

This ownership group has a lot of work to do before we can start listing the NY Islanders with the class teams of the NHL, I'm sorry. Sad but true.

BB gets alot of credit but i think it has alot more to do with staal pushing mikko to 2nd (where he belongs) and the maturation of granlund,coyle,nino,zucker.. guys in their 3rd and 4th seasons finally being comfortable in the league.. and of course DD

No. His record with the Isles is .537. Because of the three point games the average NHL record is about .565. He is a loser just like he has been at every professional level.

Nino was mishandled by both coach and GM. They share the blame.

No player still is, unless he's overpaid and too much term. The culture does not appear to have changed much. This organization is still a joke. Until Snow & Crappy are gone, it will remain that way. Bring in a PoHO, a new, proven GM and coach with successful track record and accountability then the culture might change.

I still wish the Isles had taken a stab at Staal as our 2C. Maybe they did and we just don't know, but once I saw what I signed for I wished even more that he had ended up here on the second line.

This organization has serious issues with developing prospects. They don't get any credit for Tavares. The rest of the 1st round picks have either been terrible, inconsistent, or mismanaged.

This is one of the more disappointing things about where the franchise is today. At least some of those high draft picks should be paying dividends by now. They can't all be busts.

Mismanagement kind of goes hand-in-hand with inconsistent & terrible, no? If you don't manage your employees properly, don't put them in a position to succeed, what are they going to do? Fail.
BTW, did you ever can that broad you were going to do right before Thanksgiving?

This! Instead of hiring Cappy, they should have hired a coach that could work with young talent. Garth gets a pass for having a low payroll under Wang. Garth does not get a pass for hiring and sticking with Cappy and both not developing the young talent.

I said earlier, he fired Nolan and Gordon. The New England daisy chain is alive and well in Snows office.

That was awesome, dude. He needs to do that more often. Like every game.
- Isleshockeyman

hasn't he really don't that already. You think Cappy put him on the PK? or did he say, I do everything else so why not play PK as well.

I mean Kulemin said that Tavares was attending the PK meetings on his own. Superstars don't need coaching. They actually are self driven and that is what makes the so special. if there is something they not good at the take it upon themselves to learn how and impove.
Thats why they attest to those coaches that helped them growing up. Once they 18-19 they already know the type of player they are. Capuano hasn't made John Tavares better. JT made himself better. Guys like Bailey and Strome need a coach. they got the skills, they just need more guidance.

This organization has serious issues with everything. In my opinion it starts with the GM and trickles down from there. Hopefully the new owners address it.
This team has a fraction of the scouting / player developement people that most teams in the league employ and is one of the main issues the team needs to address as far as player developement after the coach and the GM are canned.
The PoHO, once or if hired, needs to come in and structure the team from top to bottom like a real NHL hockey team. The years of Wang and Co. are gone.

Snow had that position covered with Strome and Nelson

Totally agree, Staal would have been a nice fit especially at that price. Question is does he sign with the Islanders for the same? Doubt it.

Don't think so. Think it would have been $1m-$1.5m more.
