i just think of the incredible runs philly made the last couple of years from basement to playoffs, and really do think the isles could pull it off. better to suck early and get hot later on like last year as opposed to the year prior where they were amazing for the first 2/3 of the year then completely sucked.

nice to see stringing together some wins and that cappy finally figured out that Lee and Ladd best suited to play in front of the net and not by the boards.

However Isles only have 5% chance of making playoffs right now. Scary but true. With Both Columbus and Flyers emerging as Easter powerhouses the metro division is the toughest in the league. You either need isles to only lose 4-5 games for reminder of season or you need one of the teams in metropolitan division to have complete meltdown right now.

sorry to be debby downer but I just looked at it last night. That said, Beating the hottest team in West is good start to increase chance of making it.

Honestly, we've all basically given up on this season a while ago, Arti. They're not going to squeak into the playoffs as they usually do. You're not being a downer. You're not breaking news either. Actually, I didn't think they had even a 5% chance.

It's called Crappynomics. When something works (Lee/Ladd in front of net, Kid line, etc.), break it up. When something doesn't work (see PP/PK) keep using it. It's bound to work at some point, right?

Reel it in Jackson. They aren't making the playoffs this year. Last year they started off good, cooled off around the middle/end of January, then got it going again before the playoffs.
The games you win in November, you don't have to win in March. It's not better to suck early. Then towards the end of the season you're fighting to try to gain points and gain ground on the teams ahead of you. I'll say it's better to go into the playoff hot than cold, but not to suck early. The time to suck or go cold, if there is such a time, is in the middle of the season.

Maybe I missed something, but kinda surprised I didn't catch anyone talking about this little blurb from Staple's mailbag (the Barzal question)

So I think it’s better for him to come off a successful World Junior tournament, dominate the WHL and come to rookie camp in July possibly with new coaches to get a fresh start.

He's been hinting that for a while now on podcasts and in his articles at times. Sounds like he's fairly confident Cappy's gone at some point before next season (barring an extremely unlikely playoff appearance)

I did see that and do not want to get my hopes up. I have to think though that unless Cappy can get this team into the playoffs and a long playoff run he is gone. Just making the playoffs will not be enough for Cappy.

Chiefs, you just always know what to say, don't you? That gives me hope for the future hearing that.

The chances are very slim they make the playoffs. Isles need a big time run. These 3 point games also make it very difficult to make up ground.

We all know they're not getting in, let alone a deep run. Of course the only thing I'm good at predicting is the other teams' first goal in the 3rd period.

Even Cappy knows he is done. The writing was on the wall with Ledecky looking for a president. It would be a huge mistake not be fire both Cappy and Garth. Have to start fresh.

Its just sad that this butthead cant use the specific strengths of each player rather than trying to get them to play the same game.

Let your skaters skate, Let you danglers Dangle, let your creative playmaker be playmakers, Let your Size guys sit in front of net, etc. The list goes on.
Making them play grinder game and just sit on perimeter and in corners does not work. Lets face it, Tavares doesn't need coaching, and I doubt he listens to anything Cappy says (I mean he did take the clipboard out of his and few years ago and made his own play LOL classic)

Agreed. If Snow is allowed to continue, as I fear he might, I think I might be done. At least until he's gone. I really hope they do a thorough house cleaning. Top to bottom.

I'll be done as far as going to games. I'll still watch. It would be crazy for Ledecky to keep either guy. New president should mean new everything. Why would you want to risk any other problems next year even keeping Garth? The low payroll excuse has been gone for a while now. No excuse can be used to give them more time.

Everybody needs coaching. Some more than others. You're right though. Players have to be put in a position to succeed. You do need everybody to have some defensive responsibility though. Crappy keeps trying to pound a square peg into a round hole. That's why I've been saying he only has one system.

One system is less work for Cappy. He cannot be bothered with making adjustments and matching lines like a normal coach does.

I just hope he doesn't hire several former Islanders just for the "woohoo" factor from fans. Need to hire hockey people, not just figure heads. This organization is the biggest joke in the league. There are ECHL teams that get more respect league wide than the Isles.

I agree it has to be the best person. I have no issue having former Islanders around the team, but not as president. I love Patty but I do not think he is the right guy for the job. Same for a guy like Potvin.

I'll put it this way. If both Snow & Crappy are back next season, I'm done. I won't watch, won't buy any merchandise, won't want anything to do with this organization. Hell, I might even delete my account here. That would be the ultimate slap in the face to the fanbase.
