He should get credit for the likes of Foligno and Larsson playing better ... that said, he should also be discredited for the failure of higher value players in Gus and Ennis epic decline. I would much rather have Ennis and Gus excelling while Foligno and Larsson struggled.
But this is what you get when you employ a poor 4th line grinder to be your head coach.
He and his system need to go, fast isn't quick enough.

- IonSabres

foligno played well for ruff, so I think it's more of him being comfortable with a stable role

larsson isn't great or flashy, just a decent 3rd line center hitting his stride

Not by me. I wanted him too.

If the season ended today, I would be protecting 29 and 55 and that's it.

They had room to add a guy worth protecting and didn't

i always got the idea that pegula liked the flyers organization. i assume bylsma was his hiring, a response to babcock shunning them. if pegula had a chance to get a name coach like keenan to replace bylsma, it wouldnt surprise me at all.

I am going to guess at least part of the reason why they didn't get a quality D worth protecting is they want a top 2 guy and the cost for that was either the 8th overall pick last draft, Reinhart, or both and Murray did not want to pay the cost at that time.

Key words being at that time.

That and they didn't believe Bogosian and Kulikov would be somewhere between bad and awful.

I guess it all depends on what they wanted the seasons results to be.

I mean, no offense to anyone who thinks otherwise, but a lot of people saw 47,77, and 4 in the top 4 as a big issue.

Luckily, 55 and 29's play have masked some of the ineptitude, but I would expect a drop off considering the amount they are asked to play.

A real leader takes his teammates as they come, and enables them to be the best they can by permitting them to operate in their areas of strength and improve in their areas of weakness.

I sort of feel like Disco is saying - I don't care what your strengths are, DO THIS.

That's not leadership that a dictator.

My biggest disappointment/frustration has been Bogo. I was expecting more but I guess his glass skeleton won't let him show what he could have been.

Again, only me guessing, but I think while they wanted to push for the playoffs this year, they wanted to see what they had with a team that had at least some level of expectation before making the final moves necessary.

The silver lining, if there is one, where the team is located in the standings right now is it has become crystal clear Kulikov is not the answer and it's time to try and trade Bogosian, if that is even remotely possible.

I believe they already knew they had a problem with the Gorges, Moulson, Ennis trio.

I can agree with that to an extent, however, there was enough evidence to suggest it wasn't going to work.

Kulikov, Bogo and Gorges have years of underwhelming play and/or constant injuries under their belts already.

Also, from what the rumors seem to think, he's been trying to add a D man for a while.

I think the only long leash of that group was Bogosian.

Kulikov seems to be more of a get him for a season and see how he plays in hopes that maybe he can be a short term solution.

I have no doubt he's been trying to add. It's the cost that is the problem, at least so far, for Murray.

If they can somehow get rid of Bogosian this offseason, either via trade or the expansion draft, they will go full bore at Shattenkirk.

Problem with that is the same as it was with Vesey and Stamkos: the secondary plans are MUCH more difficult and more costly.
