How smug are you going to be about it?
And how much will you hate whoever is picked?

Good assessment of your D. Need a little help on the lower end like my Leafs. No surprise Franson is at the same caliber when was in TO. Although he used to pot a few more goals. Anytime I watch Bogo it seems he goes out of his way to make the big hit, thus getting out of the play.

Yeah, I just don't see us being done with building via draft. We need at least one more stud player on both offense and defense. There's a lot of talent here now, but not enough to contend with teams like Chicago or Pitt. And, with the new wave of rebuilding teams coming, Tor, Car, Cal, Edm, we need to make sure we're at par with these teams or else we'll be just like NYI and Col.

Our prospect are nice but I think many here overvalue them big time.

Maybe. Prospects are tricky because save for the elite their value is completely dependant upon the team ur moving them to.

Will Borgen is a pretty good prospect in general, but his value to a rebuilding team who's deep on the blueline is not the same as say the team thats just looking to move cap.

Same with us i'll take a good centre prospect any day, but im not going to overpay because we're more or less set there.

Sure, I get that, different needs so different values. But the way I see our prospects is that we have two that we're hoping will be studs... Guhle and Nylander. But we don't know 100% what we have here. Out of everyone else we have four that are leading the pack, Fasching, Bap, Bailey, Carrier, and honestly, I see bottom six all the way with these guys. None of them have produced jack at the NHL level. It's still earlier and they are all decent for guys picked out of the 1st round, but none of them can compare to the guys a team like Carolina has recently drafted out of the 1st round. I would trade all four right now for Aho and Rask

So at this point, Tim Murray is licking his lips at having a high draft pick. I think he's complacent with this season so far and he's drooling at the thought of trading away that high 1st for that coveted Top-3 Defenseman.

Watch it happen. We will pick Top-5 in June and flip our 1st to Las Vegas when they snatch up an unprotected Defenseman that Tim Murray has been blowing his load over since juniors.

If he trades a high first for an unprotected expansion player, I might have to become a Leafs fan

I truly believe the context of "time" , "development" for most of these young professionals has become more conservative with more and more decisions being made by the player and his "camp" which has evolved from parents/uncles/ etc...to experienced experts as to the most beneficial growth rate/style for each specific 18 yr old. I think this approach will yield more refined talent with a more "Long-term" approach to maximizing their professional careers.

That being said, when you see "talent" with your eye test, many want to put it right out in the highest level of competition in the world, and for some, its just what they needed, but for most it can stunt, intimidate, damage physically/ psychologically their ability to have a long lasting career with an opportunity to fulfill or exceed their expectations at the NHL level.

Yes, nobody wants to rush prospects and ruin them long term. We need to remember our lesson from Gregorenko. But, I don't see Frasch, Bap, Bailey, or Carrier really becoming top 6 material either. They're good, fast, but mostly grinders... I think we have some Jamie McGinns in the making. Others here think much more highly of them, so I could be right, I could be wrong, we'll see. But from what I've seen, I see nothing that says we need to say "NO" when other teams come calling and offer good value in return.

If that happens I might have to just forget about the Sabres like I have the Bills. Maybe I'll take up building model airplanes in the evening or something like that. But, I won't watch this rebuild be sabotaged anymore, life is too short for this B.S.

I honestly never got the Carrier hype. Two years in a row over the summer when I watched the prospects game/ 3 on 3 Tourney's, Fasching, Bailey and Baptiste were so much better than him each year.

Carrier played great the first few games then went into invisible mode I have no idea what his calling is beside a fourth line energy player

And if that happens in my eyes that's a bust

I like him. He's big, tough, fast, and not afraid to go to the dirty areas. But I don't see him as a point producer either though. With the amount of time he's played for us, he's still produced squat and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Now, that doesn't mean he's not a good player, he is. But on a team desperate for goals, we seem to be bring up a lot of future grinders. A think a few more Euros would really help our offense. They aren't tough, but we already have that covered. We need more guys that can stick handle in a phone booth.

I was so pumped for the 2015 draft with all the picks we had to make, and then so bummed when Murray traded away #21, 25. To have had taken two quality players then and have them ready to go around now would have been awesome for our depth. But we got Lehner and Kane... so it's all good, right...

I think his calling is a Jordan Nolan it's not a bad thing but when your a first round pick its irritating for me but we didn't draft him
