Jvr for barrie? Where do I sign?? |

well I could see the islanders wanting to give a scoring winger to Tavares...
thats about it
Yea, i guess so... they have some good young guys coming up through their system tho, no? This season's pretty much a write-off at this point for the isles, so why would they want to trade youth (which is what I'm assuming TOR would want) for a vet who's contract expires next year? It would kinda be like trading for a rental a year in advance... they'd also need to move some salary to make the deal work and not sure TOR would take what the Isles would want to sell... so i dunno, still doesn't make much sense to me. |

What I don't get is why on earth would the Leafs, who should have about 10-15 more points based on their play, and can expect to rise in the standings as the year goes on, would ever consider trading players who are currently good. They have 3 years when their rookies don't make any real money, so there really is no use in building for the future. I hope they don't trade JVR or Kadri. - James_Tanner
I agree with you on the most part here, particularly that moving Kadri would be a bad move (unless somebody grossly overpays, of course), but I'm not so sure on JVR. I was reading the other day that his minutes under Babcock have gone down significantly. He has only one year left on his contract after this season -- is TOR willing to re-sign him for market value (I think they've made good deals on Kadri and Reilly -- can they do something similar for JVR)? Or does he test free agency to maybe cash in or get on a team where he'd have a larger role and perhaps more of a SC contender?
I think it would be wise for TOR to cash in on JVR now while his value is high. |

No, we need a good defenseman. |

JVR is not being moved for another forward when our need is D. |

We could use at least 1 more d, must be someone you'd take for JVR or Kadri or a package with 1 of them included? |

Kadri for hamilton . It would take two of kadri to get hamiton . Maybe jvr and kadri for hamilton . I understand both Toronto players are having good years this year but if any team buys high on either of these playets they are wasting assets. Kadri has 1 50 point season and jvr never stays healthy . But yeah . Go ahead and overpay . |

Why must people try to force this Hamilton rumour. I'm sure eklund isn't pulling this out of his ass, his "sources" are telling him this. But unless Toronto way over pays for him it wouldn't happen. - Bigalow

Id argue Kadri is more valuable NOW, long term, than JvR is.
He's been solid on D and suffocating #1 centers on the other team. JVR is a great scorer from in close, but we have the new trio of Nylander/Marner/Matthews that can help carry the load in his absence.
The only way JvR gets moved is for a top 2 d-man, and stop saying this player isnt worth that player, this isnt EA sports, there's packages that can be made, and it all depends on the needs of the team.
Leafs arent desperate for a d-man but do need one. Islanders for example are desperate for someone to play with Tavares or else he's done with that team and leaving at the end of the year. Colorado is too far gone imo to be "desperate" since at this point, they look like they need everything...like 12 new players. |

Might as well ask for Kane and Towes for any top 4 d-man in the league.
Lets trade a 2nd line center and a 1st line power forward for a #2-4 dman...totally makes sense. |

I could see JVR going to NYI as he is from the area, and except for last year always healthy.
Kadri is a valuable asset to the leafs, would take more than Hamilton!
Adding Hamonic and Hamilton would shore up the D pretty nicely! |

Flames don't really want it to happen. That's why it'll a be Marner. Toronto is the one desperate for D.

That's just the equal value. D-men are worth more then forwards. Hamilton is better then Larsen and way better then Larsen offensively. The only knock on Hamilton is that he doesn't use his body. So yes if Larsen was traded for hall it would take a nylander and a high pick or prospect or a marker to pull that deal off. |
