For my last post before Xmas I'll just point out that Brayden Schenn scored 1 point in the 135 minutes he spent playing 5 on 5 hockey with Travis Konecny.

That's not a line anyone should be sad to see the end of.

Injuries aside, I don't see anyone sitting.

I think they'd even do Schultz before Morin. I'd love to see the kid but the Phantoms are playing well and it may be good for him to be a part of that.

I would love to see the Ghost Morin Pairing. Sam looks great with Sanhiem, would be a great pairing here too. Maybe next year. Do we want Morin to maybe help the Flyers come playoff time or have a real chance for a Calder Cup this year. Would love his size against the Caps.

There's something to be said for filtering the prospects in. It might behoove them to get either Sanheim or Morin NHL experience this year because they and Myers all have a decent shot of being NHL ready next year. Morin by all accounts is the closest, especially for how he'll be deployed and what he'll be asked to do.

Dreadful games since Dallas. Don't even look like the same team since the streak.

I must admit I did not think much of him last year. He was a nice piece on PP2. I thought he improved his all around game steadily all year but I just thought he was a guy with some definite skill that lacked skating ability. I thought long term he would be an inconsistent contributor towards this team. The fact he's doing this under Torts is blowing me away.

free agency is just so damn scary and weird. If you look at Gagner and Weise and whats happened with 2 guys who could be considered 3rd line pieces. The contracts they landed and the production coming from it. Makes you not even want to dip your toes

Besides the NJ game, they look like the same team with just an ice cold PP

Gagner isn't sustaining it. But his usage is so (frank)ing peculiar and brilliant nonetheless.

He gets all the PP1 time, but he plays easy 4th line minutes at ES. It's the perfect use for him, which he wouldn't get here. Kudos to him, but that situation is not available here. Now, I still think he was better last year as the year went on than he got credit for. I think his PP2 usage as a net front presence made no sense, and his usage as a whole was botched by some unsolvable lack of trust. Is what it is.

Now this week can agree on. Hextall has never signed a guy who has blown me away. His best trade by far has been the Coburn trade but it's far from the Forsberg trade, the risk of the Carter and Richards trades. Heck, the trade that brought Coburn here is still a standout.

I like Ron Hextall. Like the patience even if I've been impatient. However, the draft has been his bread and butter. The Hartnell still trade still hurts. LeCavalier could have been traded for a Toronto Maple Leafs Colby Armstrong signed stick and that deal would still look good because he had to do what he had to do but Jordan Weal is no shining star. Matt Read, Scott Laughton, Mark Streit. We have crap but we have crap that could at minimum could shake things up a little bit.

For the record, I like Michael Del Zotto, I don't love him.

Wait a second the Jackets are allowed to win back to back games against the Penguins and Habs? 12 in a row and counting. Good to see Bobrovsky on his way to another Vezina.

And shockingly the tire fire that is the Devils went right back to their clown show.

Columbus has some great young players (Jones+Werenski are dynamite), Bob is playing out of his mind, Torts has indeed done some decent things....

It's still not remotely sustainable, though they've built up such a buffer they're probably a done deal for playoffs. I've seen this song and dance too many times: perfect storm with a young, talented roster with crap coach riding unsustainable stats to the PDO promised land. Even their top ranked PP is somehow 26th in shot generation (compare to the Flyers who are ~top 5 in each). Something just smells about that team, though they are certainly good.

ok. Even when they were winning 10 in a row. To me it didn't look like a team that should win 10 in a row. They still don't, their roughly the same team which is a pretty good one

C'mon now, the Flyers lost to the Devils. The season is pretty much over. Admit it.

Well than we were watching two different teams through the streak. The PP is with out question an issue now that it's gone cold but we were a season low in shots last night, which is another unnoticed difference.

I prefaced my initial post by stating besides the NJ game. That is a throwaway game. Those happen over the course of the year to everyone. Like someone said earlier a schedule loss
