Why is it that players can only be traded to Montreal or Toronto? #clickbait

If by outscoring you mean having 2 more assists with 12 more games played, then you are absolutely correct.

"The JvR beginning point is a non-starter right now, and Kadri has shown his growth finally this year...but Kadri is much more possible..."

From the Leafs perspective, a cost-benefit analysis would point strongly at not making that kind of trade. Giving up a player who is signed to a pretty reasonable contract for the next five and a half years, plus who knows what else, for a player on an expiring contract who will probably want 7x7, is a big mistake.

Just getting rid of Polak and Hunwick, either at the deadline, or by letting their contracts expire at the end of the season will improve the defense by subtraction alone. Draft Callan Foote, continue to develop Dermott and Nielsen, give Carrick more respect, sign a competent bargain basement defenseman to a one year contract long after July 1st to help shore things up, and live to fight another day.

Can we confirm ?

I guess not, but it is pretty obvious that the quality of writing has drastically improved. Someone else is doing it.

Shattenkirk IS NOT the answer to Toronto's blueline needs. This rumour makes zero sense.

I don't see how JVR is a "nonstarter" if the deal were to actually be in talks (doubt it is). JVR is a 27-year-old with 21 points, making $5 mil on a contract that expires in 2018. Shatty is a 27-year-old with 22 points who will likely be asking for around $6 mil when his contract is up. Seems like a decent starting point, although I'd probably rather have Kadri.

Side note: How does no one besides Blues fans realize Shattenkirk is pretty terrible in his own end?

Side note 2: Think the organization will get some push back from Tarasenko if Shattenkirk is moved/not resigned? They're buds.

So then it makes sense for Toronto to do it?

The next team who signs Shatty to a contract will regret it. Wait and see.

Which is why I hope the Blues don't do it.
