Agreed the injury was a cause of a lot of factors. Del Zotto ending up in on the fall contributes to the end result. My point is that Mannings decision to bend over and reach out and grab on and pull back, has a lot to do with McDavid going down, and then Manning also being out of control thus falling on top and adding to the mass going into the boards. It was a mistake, plain and simple. No way Manning had any intent to injure on that play. No way he made that thought and that decision in that amount of time.

I don't think much of anything will happen. I'm still waiting for the glass at the Erie Insurance Arena to fight "some of our guys" in retaliation for accidentally breaking McJesus' hand.

He's certainly a generational player and deserves the hype but I would be making the same comment if another player was doing the crying.

You made a comment that of course McDavid won't be fighting a plug, that Lucic or others will be doing that. All I'm saying is if you are going to have a pout in public and call out a player, you better be willing to defend your words yourself regardless of how good of a player you are.

The only issue I have is the "some of our guys" part. If McDavid doesn't want to waste his time fighting a 5/6 defenseman, that's fine. But if that's the case, then you shouldn't have to have someone else fight him, either. Just my take. Other than that, aside from me believing that what's said on the ice stays on the ice, I have no problem with his answer.

The point is drama settled early on in the game and they moved on with McIlrath even saying " So, I can respect him for squaring up with me and I happy how it all worked out."

If the Oilers have an issue the start of the game let Lucic or Kassian square up with Manning and move on. As a hockey fan I dont want to see McDavid fighting because he is too enjoyable and important for the game to be sidelined with a broken hand.

Gamesmanship. You better believe if I'm in Manning's shoes and McDavid is coming at me last night I'm going to say something like "_______ or I'll break your collarbone again," in the hopes of getting in his head.

Also, I find it funny how many media people and and fans seem to think McDavid still had a great game last night. Yes, he had a powerplay goal. But he was also limited to 1 SOG at even strength. He was largely a non-factor due to Bellemare somehow doing a great job at C marking him all night (A matchup I would not have gone with. Good thing I'm not the coach), and Provorov's d-pair generally matched up with him. Manning was actually on the ice very little against McDavid.

McDavid is a great player, but he didn't have a great game last night. Not sure why so many Edmonton fans seem unwilling to admit that. Giroux is a great player and gets shut down at even strength in games, it happens. Same with Voracek.
