hold the phone there
some of the top nhl 10 coaches were coaching that tournament and he topped them.

IT'S A TWO WEEK TOURNAMENT THAT HAD VERY LITTLETO DO WITH COACHING. BY YOUR LOGIC IF THEY SOMEHOW BEAT CANADA WOULD YOU SAY HE'S A BETTER COACH THEN BABCOCK? OF COURSE NOT. THIS IS WHERE YOUR ARGUMENT FALLS APART.

wow that is an incredibly rude thing to say. Krueger was awesome at the WCOH.

Why dont you increase your IQ so you can follow along with why we need a coaching change

- SMBDragon

I think that Krueger would be an excellent coach - he did well at the WCH, and was in charge of Edmonton's best season for years (albeit the abbreviated lockout season)... that said, he's got a pretty sweet gig in England right now, and is apparently making a lot more than he did as a coach, so it might be tough to pursuade him to leave.

If true, youd think management forces a change no matter what linden and benning want?
- phyllee

You mean ownership? What change will be a difference maker?

And sometimes...there is just flat out better players on teams....talent vs Coaching? I'll take talent thanks
- Bullfrog77

sure....and the key there is SOMETIMES.

A good coach can make it all work well or a bad one can sink you.
Good players def can make a coaches job easier and give him tools to use.

then some coaches ride dorsett and chaput for big minutes over the talent

Babcock, arguably one of the best coaches in the game. Toronto one of the most skilled teams in the league yet very inexperienced.

You can't be serious. As if the training staff is responsible for edler's broken hand or sutter's broken jaw or larsen's coma...

this comment section really is where the internet goes to die.

I fully expect a ban for standing up to you idiots tonight. I genuinely like Carol's blogs and sincerely look forward to the 2020 season. Until then, suck it.

thats where yours does. You obviously dont understand coaching at that level.
educate yourself on it.
Do you really think they just line juggle and motivate?

By your logic I guess they didnt even need coaches then. Clearly you dont understand what coaches at that level do

I wasn't being serious and I won't flag you. You can come here and talk hockey and give an opinion but to think and act like you are better then everyone. Not going to happen. You weren't standing up to anyone tonight. You were just making an ass of yourself.
- manvanfan

NOT EVERYONE, JUST YOU

Actually my beef is with those who come here and demand change every day as if there was an easy solution readily available but, due to some conspiracy or gross incompetence, the Canucks don't seize it.

Absolutely. Look at how fast Boudreau got snapped up as soon as he came available, and he's still got the baggage of the "playoff choker" reputation...

The guy who knows that Ottawa would never entertain Tanev for Logan Brown and a first, for a myriad of reasons, the primary being that they've already got a problem on defence when it comes to the expansion draft.

You just haven't been here long enough to realize that most come here just to explore ideas. Good and Bad, mostly bad. Take everything with a grain of salt and realize others have different opinions. Name calling isn't nice. Laugh and joke in a kind but ignorant way. state your case for why you think someone is a better coach and once the arguments reachs a point of neither side is budging and move on to the next thing.

Here's the thing, it doesn't matter if they're a playoff team because they can't beat anyone in a best-of-seven series. It's like making the playoffs only to get wickedly embarassed. I don't see how that is helpful to turning this team into a cup contender. In this league, you're a contender or you should be building towards that. Getting pummeled by Calgary or SJ or Anaheim does no good because the players who will learn from that experience won't be here when the team is a contender.

- Max.Betts

Yeah odds are against them. Why do they bother playing the games anyway when you know the result ahead of time. Like tonight. Unexpected sources rise up give meaning to the outcome. Or should we have told the '82 Cup run Canucks they should have packed it in? You never know. For now the team is what it is an unknown group that is getting younger as more vets step aside. Try to win and if you fail draft quality players. Enjoy the games wherever they finish.

How so? Methot AND Phaneuf can be exposed. Phaneuf no longer has his NMC, Ottawa only retained the Modified NTC. Check cap Friendly. The onyl 2 defensemen they NEED to protect are Ceci and Karlsson. Tanev could actually work in their favor as it would allow them to expose both Phaneuf and Methot in a hope to be rid of one of them.

EDIT: you are right about one thing though, Brown + 1st is an overpayment. But Brown for Tanev would make sense.

I thought more that Ottawa needs a young center. Lazar ain't cutting it. They want to keep Brown. Also Melnyk is cheap.

Thanks tips.

This comment section has been calling for WD's head ever since this team was embarrassed by Calgary in the playoffs, but I'm the one who needs to move on?

Brasard and Turris are in their prime and have several years in the tank. Improving Defense would be best as they would be in win now, rather than blow it up. Brown won't be impact for 3-4 years. Lazar makes a good 3rd line center.

You might want to make another edit...

http://sports.yahoo.com/n...ers-exempt-004322515.html

Methot is Karlsson's Right (left) hand man.
Phaneuf must be protected.
That means they have to choose between Ceci and Methot.
