Hossa and Marchard are talented grinders like Crosby. Not dangling sniping floaters, guys who are going to outwork the other team while also possessing enough skill and good enough hands to make the most out of that effort.
Both a step up in skill from Sheary/Kunitz/Dupuis/Hornqvist, of course. - hardnosed

Eh, I think guys who know where to be on the ice, to anticipate Crosby creating a scoring chance by his grinding / puck handling / attention from the defense is what you want. And, of course, the speed to keep up with Crosby. I think Sheary does well in these regards, but I think he is not a polished finisher and is too easily knocked off the puck or out of the play.
Under the constraints of the salary cap and the Pens roster, who do you want on Crosby's LW? I would love to have Marchand, but...

That's the biggest thing... Anticipating what Sid is going to do. Sid has delivered soooo many great passes this year and the bulk of them haven't been buried. I'm not asking for a dangling east/west player. Just a guy that has the ability to expect the puck and finish it when it comes out of nowhere.
Like I said in my previous post, it takes time for that chemistry to jell.

Yes to all of this. Hopefully the lines will be somewhat set soon so they can have some extended time together.
Don't look now, but a big goose egg so far for the HMK line in a 4-goal blowout. In 2+ more games if they aren't producing, can we write them off?

After dumping on Sheary, he's still probably the best fit on Sid's line.
I don't hate the guy, I'm just dreaming about finally having a wing that can take advantage of some of those insane passes. Sprong looks like he might have that ability.

I feel the same way about Sheary. If they aren't going to give Guentzel a shot at Crosby's LW, then just call it Sheary's unless he isn't getting it done. His speed is great on defense and although he flubs a lot of passes, he does have a good wrister if he has control of the puck. The only other real option is Kunitz and I think he is even less likely to finish / score goals. I had high hopes for Wilson but he looks bottom six to me.

I feel the same way about Steigy. If they cant find another option, just call it Steigys job.

Which is why I wanted marchand so damn bad. But everyone went "(frank) that rat"
What failure? Jokinen-Malkin-Neal scored 6 goals for, and allowed 1 against in 78 minutes of TOI. That's pretty good in my book. Nice try, you're really missing on every attempt here. - j.boyd919
Can you break down those minutes & games they were played in & see whether they were actually goals that meant 'something', like GWG or at least winning the games thanks to those goals - if not they are worthless if you are trying to educate people about their importance.
See this is exactly what analytics guys do - cherry pick a stat & run with it without offering any further detail because it supports their argument.
Arguing less than .1 of a 'point' is also quite bizarre but again it suits your opinion so you bang it home as if it's a huge margin that actually matters! Again, if you would like to elaborate your statistics to include games won & lost & when points were scored it would assist you in your attempts to look half intelligent!
But if you're just going to continue to cherry pick numbers that you can work with to try & justify your opinion or negate the opinion of others, you're just an arse - which again I will say you don't have to keep proving this, I already know!

But hey, the HMK line scored tonight! Granted, it was Murray with a long distance shot attempt at the end of a 4-1 game that bounced off a Florida player at the other blue line and Hags hit it into the empty net. But score one for the HMK line! Also, they are about a quarter of the way to the magical 78 minutes of TOI from which to base opinions on how effective their line is (never mind they didn't do anything else in a goal bonanza game where even the 4th line scored 2 goals).
Whoops! My mistake, Malkin and Kessel weren't even on the ice for that EN goal, so back to ZERO. Darn, this isn't going to help the narrative. Oh well.

You were the one that said Jokinen-Malkin-Neal didn't produce and were proven wrong and now you're going to be a female dog about it ?? And don't say it's a small sample size because that wasn't what your argument was based on. Plus you should have known it was a small sample size because it was 2 playoff rounds.

Never ever ever EVER argue with someone from Pennsylvania about hockey because that state has that $hit locked down?? Especially when that person is James Tanner, err I mean Jebidiah Boyd, err I mean a Pug in a ballcap that used to live in Pittsburgh but now lives in that hockey Mecca Tampa bay? Just because he's never been in the same room as a pair of ice skates doesn't mean............ um.........anything......?....... - Dcoms
I'm willing to bet my born and raised in Florida ass is better than you at hockey.
