Because nothing remotely conclusive can be determined by a mere 78 minutes of TOI.

So, how can you deem them a failure then?

You think they need a net front presence instead of HMK.
Numbers are better for HMK than HBK

You think that goals are harder to come by in the playoffs
Pens had a higher goals per game average in the playoffs than the regular season

You thought that Jokinen-Malkin-Neal were an epic playoff failure
The only series in which that line was together they produced 6 goals, and allowed 1 against.

- j.boyd919

You think that regular season success translates to the playoffs - I guess you missed Penguins hockey for the last decade up until summer. How many President's Trophy winners have won the Cup?

Apparently I was wrong about Jokinen-Malkin-Neal, but 78 minutes is statisically irrelevant. The teams they were on were epic failures.

Your stupid gif is lame and childish. I don't care if you disagree with me or not. Have fun with your irrelevant arguments.

the panthers new coach read the book moneyball. they have to be good now right?
- Grinder47

Moneyball is actually extremely dated now. There's no edge left in that book. Every team has already gone well past the concepts in the book.

Hockey is the slowest to bring in moneyball concepts and they are probably 2-5 years past the adoption of the concepts of the book.

Wow 3-0. Are we playing good or are the Panthers being unfairly treated by the officials???

Are they committed (the Panthers that is)?

FORGET JOKINEN - MALKIN - NEAL. I WAS WRONG ABOUT THEIR SUCCESS / FAILURE. THEY PLAYED 78 MINUTES TOGETHER. IRRELEVANT.

Love the way we are playing right now. If you are a true contender then this style is great. Injuries seem to be down a good bit since we tried to just outscore teams. Tighten up for the playoffs, but right now shoot-outs should keep the injuries down.

So sad, I feel bad for people like you, unwilling to learn, or even do research before attempting an educated opinion.

If you want to play the game of drawing conclusions from 78 minutes of TOI, I can come up with some eye-opening, earth-shattering statistics. But, alas, they don't mean anything.

Didn't realize Patrick Laine had 17 goals and only trailed crosby. Austin Mathews had the huge opening night, but Laine's been better all year.

What part of that do you not understand, Richard?

Definitely fun. Sid is on a different planet. If his LW was a sniper, it wouldn't be fair. I've said it before, it reminds when Mario was dominating. Every time he hits the ice I expect to see something special.

Sheary is currently on a 22 goal pace despite getting very little power play time and despite missing 7 games.

Reminds me of Dupuis in that regard.
