Potential Vegas Defense corps:

Methot - Spurgeon
Mcnabb - Klein
Merill - Schenn

Orlov
Manson
Van Riemsdyk
Sbisa
Corrado

Would be a pretty good way to start. Make 1 big FA signing and that's a good D.

Also extra guys to trade for whatever else the team needs.

Tryamkin-Gudbranson would make a good shut down pairing.
- Retinalz

yes if needed it would.
Also Considering tree covers almost 2/3 of the ice on the blue line with stick out to his side adding gudbranson could make it pretty impenetrable. So the forcheck would be good. Since neither is a playmaker I'd still prefer tree and stetcher.

But I like having them on seperate pairings so theres a large D always on the ice.
In PO's however when needed they could indeed form a formadible shutdown pairing

Friedman reported it on twitter yesterday. I logged on to tell the masses but Vantel beat me by 5 mins.

FWIW, each guy is worth a 3rd round pick
if they hire them before their contracts are up.

I was thinking the same thing!
And i think he would actually be good for the Islanders franchise.
Hey, even Torts is turning it around in CBJ.

Not anymore, the league changed the compensation rules. A team only needs to grant permission.

Hey welcome back.
Benning doing exactly what Benning does best, find young talent. Just has found too much of it.

Thanks. are we not going rave about the quality

Though sounds like he's trying to make a case for standing pat to keep the vultures away.

You could also just have them stand on either side of Markstrom and there probably wouldn't be any net visible to shoot at.

When is Tanev back?

follow up question, what do the D pairings look like when he is, with Sbisa playing better, Tryamkin and Stetcher showing they deserve to stay and the injuries we've got...

With Larsen out, Biega probably sits and that stays the D until Edler is back. I think if the newbies are still playing well by that time a trade needs to be made.

I honestly think Edler should be traded, Hutton-Tanev Sbisa-Guddy Tryamkin-Stecher would be good pairings, or reverse sbisa with stecher and tryamkin with guddy

They haven't moved much other than 2nd round picks. We will be fine
- CanuckDon

Debatable as usual, but in my opinion this is the tally as far significant pieces go.

Added 6 complementary players, 2 of which might become more, and two decent (two 3rds) picks.

for

1 impact player, 4 complementary players, 3 prospects and 5 decent picks. (three 2nds, 2 3rds)

You mean Biega plays?
I think that's clear, i was just thinking ahead about what the lineup will be like when Tanev is back ( I assume he is back before Edler)

Best shutdown pairs in the league can all skate. Wouldn't be bad on the PK maybe, hard to take the front of the net with those two.

He plays both sides but it is preferred to have LHD on the left side

this is true. They did the same in Boston w rask in PO's. They swept the pens that series, pens couldnt score on em. Blysma was coaching.

Excellent defensive plan by the bruins in that case.
