Demko will be in the AHL again next year, so your point is irrelevant.

Clean hit! PL should be aware where the players are in his own zone. And at that level should have had his head up.
- Kaynine

If you read the yeah part I was agreeing it was a clean hit. I just added where Hall was at the time was unusual based on the play. PL knows how to avoid hits. That one caught him plus he was fishing at puck in his skates. Case of wrong place and perfect stealth timing by Hall. All within the rules and a hockey play.

Not my style Kaynine, but I will resort to sarcasm, facetiousness, mild ridicule, even shaming, but I don't pull the power trip unless it's really warranted.

thats the job of goalie coach, who are retired goalies with tons of experience
- SMBDragon

Goalie coach works with the goalies technique, positioning, etc

No coach can help mentor like an actual player can ...you hear players talk about guys who they play with playing huge roles in development all the time ...whether it's a D partner, linemate, or goalie

Not always, I'm just another poster, and fan that really can't understand the relentless, nauseating repetitive complaints day in day out.
- Makita

I hear you, there definitely are some subjects that appear ad nauseam (Kadri hit, tank versus re-tool, replacing the twins, Vantel & Don, coaching etc)

Whining about hypothetical contracts is relatively rare occurrence, assuming Sbisa isn't mentioned

When Tanev signed the market was lower and he had less years played to base body of work. Guddy is already at 3.5M so a long term raise would reflect minimum 1M per year plus. Which is where that contract is headed. Or at least I see that from the original post. I would think 4.5 for 6 would be reasonable. Just not probable based on circumstances.

JB sees him as top 4 maybe he's only 4/5 on a competitive team. Down the road that will probably be aroud 5M contract for an established player.

Bridge deals are deals for players coming out of their ELC not a 25yr old.

Would you say Guddy is in the same place, player wise, as Seth Jones? Or Hampus Lindholm?

I don't think he is and that's what that contract would put him. If JB signs him to that contract the he should be fired a day later!!

- Kaynine

Yeah would agree with you on that. I would rather sign him for less on term and money given flux of team D. But if long term would think a low 4 million would be reasonable over six years. Just not probable given circumstances I posted.

Contracts also tend to be based on skill, deployment, consistency, success and progressive development.

Even when Edler and Tanev were on the roster, Hutton and Stecher where logging more ice-time than E.G and they have a combined total of 118 NHL game experience to Erik's 335.

- Whiskey-Tango

which means they'll want more $ than EG too. Its a problem then if this rumor is true

Saw it as a trend. Not literally. Yeah I took it as around 5M long term. I don't want that but think it's headed close to there.

Wideman
Engelland
Smid
Both goalies

All coming off

But have to sign
2 goalies
Bennett
Ferland
And replace 1 D maybe 2

There's room but not a lot really

- Redmile247

What would you do with Bennet's contract? Bridge deal? I'm not sure he's produced enough for a longer term?

Ferland should be an easy sign and you hope a younger D can step up to offset Gio's contract. And if you can get Johnson to resign at a decent amount then you will have the room.

Sbisa put that puck to an open area. It was the only spot to go with it cause the wall was closed off. I actually blame Markstrom more because he knew where Hall was, he should have been yelling to PL before the puck went to him.
- Kaynine

Marky did yell to him. Just too late given from where Hall was approaching. Not expected Hall would be there based on play.

I just look at ferland as getting a raise ...there are other contracts coming off that will be replaced at equal value

I would bridge unless he is willing to sign a longer term low cap deal ( unlikely ) I see him getting better but he hasn't done enough to get paid

Are you suggesting he will take $1,000,000 pay cut to play in Vancouver?

Obviously not loud enough. When Sbisa threw the puck back Markstrom should have been yelling cause Hall was just on the other side of his net.

That makes the most sense.

If his agent pushes for more, trade him.

Ferland does deserve a raise, 4yr 2.75mil? He's producing at a 3 line rate. But he does bring the extra intangibles, the kid is tough.

I think he did just speed of the game it was too late for PL to react. I did like how Marky and Granlund later rushed to protect PL's prone body.

Yeah, he took a few kicks to the head still.
