you are wrong, in the old days a Tie would have been a tie, It,s the winner overtime shoot out point that's a farce.

A tie is a tie. What kind of a tie? It's a tie. A tie is a tie. And when you have a good tie, it's because it's tied.

Pretty happy he's not getting paid. A piece of poop player dosnt deserve 3-4 million for sitting on his ass all year.

not exactly what this case was actually about, but if an employee suffers a career ending type injury while performing work related tasks, then they should get compensation accordingly.

Yes.

The Cowen arbitration ruling was the final piece of the puzzle - Leafs will now dominate the Hurricanes for the next two decades.

Not about the leafs, I just feel bad for the guy. Signs a huge contract that should set him up for life and he gets (frank)ed out of a giant chunk of it.

How did he get franked out of it?

Rules are rules, man.

His body let him down.

It's hard for me to feel sorry for a guy who is still going to get millions of dollars to sit on a couch.

Pretty sure it's his talent level that was career ending, not the injury.

This is why Lou hates him - his hair is too long, and those are definitely not Lou Lams approved regulation teeth...

You go ahead and lose out on $3 million in salary (and, likely, your career as a pro hockey player) and feel okay about it.

yes, the case was actually about whether or not the Leafs were able to buy him out of his remaining contract based on his injury status at the time. I was just making a general comment about someone not getting paid to sit around.

Keep in mind he is now a UFA - so he should (in theory) be able to sign another contract.

Maybe in Europe, but still...

He still loses $3 million that he expected to come his way. Good chance he never gets that the rest of his career combined.
