Sure, if we can’t move bozak, then I’d be willing to roll the dice on LV taking bozak with only one year left on his deal. Worst case, would clear up $4M of salary…which we can use to replace bozak on the ufa market.

Protection spots are limited across the leagues. Realistically, trades for guys that need protection just for picks are pretty much going to dry up.

Andersen was a starting goalie in Anaheim. Toskala and Raycroft we backups and not amazing ones at the time at that. While a lot of it was talent assessment that is a risk in any trade. Asset management is another important spot. We gave up two EXTRA picks for a STARTING goalie in Andersen. For Toskala we gave up our two BEST picks and he was only a backup. Heck San Jose flipped those two picks for Couture's pick which we could have done but that isn't the point lol.

We finally have a great thing going and while a JVR+++ for a top line RHD can be the final move we make to become a consistent cup contender it can also be the thing that slows our rebuild a year or two. No need to rush anymore.

Bozak is not in the future. Mathews/nylander/kadri are the future top 3 centers.

Cap space is always valuable. Look what AZ did this past year trading cap space for prospects.

But we will probably be in a much better position both draft pick wise and going forward if we wait for an opportunity to arise, than trying to force a trade. I think that's where he's going with this.
