Brown or Komarov or Bozak isn't consequence? If it isn't then why not forgo ALL that, lose Leivo, and trade one of the above for a 2nd or more. Win-win. Which becomes a bigger win if we can sign a RHD FA. Now we have JVR that can be used for a 1st+.

Not trading for a defenseman now gives us at best an extra top 6F and an extra top 9F or at worse a 1st, 2nd+.

It is rushed moves and poor asset management that put us in this cluster to begin with. Remember Toskala and Raycroft? Those rushed deals murdered us.

- Steven_Dean

Sure, if we can’t move bozak, then I’d be willing to roll the dice on LV taking bozak with only one year left on his deal. Worst case, would clear up $4M of salary…which we can use to replace bozak on the ufa market.

Protection spots are limited across the leagues. Realistically, trades for guys that need protection just for picks are pretty much going to dry up.

Toskala and raycroft was poor talent assessment combined with trading from an area of weakness. Has trading for Andersen caused another cluster (frank) too?

Just keep signing russians, swedes, finns to play d. We're bound to luck out on one, and I really like Zaitsev so far.

Have a question for u guys and dont play the homer card as i'm having a friendly debate with an isles buddy,

Take Tavares out of equation and the obvious Dmen your team craves,

Would u trade JVR for any other islander F on team? if so, why or why not, thx

- Ur Not Me

Not straight up. You have some good younger guys (Barzal, Beauvilier etc), but it would have to be them plus pick. If Strome was more consistent then he'd be an option though.

It kind of is. Would you trade JVR for any forwards on the team? Answer: No I wouldn't. Reason: Because we need to move him for a Dman.

Is it a 1 for 1 hockey trade ie. no picks or salary considerations?
- TheMussel

anything considering the F position, obviously no prospects bc then it would be spec + to consummate, right?

No need for us to do that. Change for a sake of change can only be damaging in the long run. Maybe if it was too good to refuse. Nelson and Dal Colle? A forward doing great but a little less than JVR who is RFA instead of UFA and a struggling former top 5 pick.

We can replace JVR and hopefully develop Dal Colle into something we can ice with Matthews or flip for a D.

Meh, the Leafs really do not need to do anything this year. Find out who works and who doesn't, don't make any move that will mess up the good thing coming expansion we have going and look for a top line RHD in the summer.

No kidding! Good on Markstrom though, he stepped in right away to try and block the guys in the scrum from hurting Larsen.
- lumlums

Not only that he was trying to block the moron in the first row trying to film it with his camera. Kudo's to Markstrom on both accounts.

I would be willing to have my people run the numbers on Strome.

I'm not saying we have a deal - just that you should get those delicious cinnamon rolls and some fresh coffee going, and we will meet in your boardroom to discuss.

Small-ish puck moving D man. 12th overall 2011. Very fast. Very skilled. Completely lacking confidence. Probably needs a fresh start somewhere because it just isn't happening for him here.

had 220 points in 228 games for Kitchener

- BINGO!

He makes Kaberle look gritty.
