I don't agree with that at all. Why do teams covet their high draft picks so much these days? It's because they know the best and cheapest pipeline is through draft and development.

I'm not saying it's easy and I'm not saying you're going to hit on most of them. But you absolutely need to uncover the occasional star. He didn't come close to that. I'd say Murray is probably going to be a star, but I think he was a 3rd.

Like I said earlier... The Penguins staff had a star identified (Saad) and Ray f'd it up because of his crazy philosophy of drafting PMD's. Nobody will ever convince me his strategy of drafting players because of trade value makes any sense what-so-ever.
