If I had to say one thing I would like to see from him that would be "some" emotion, passion... Maybe he is just a total cool cat, or "Mr Roboto" as he has been referred to before.
I think VDV thing gets over killed, he is a 4th line player with 5 goals. I will take it.
The possibility of scratching MDZ over Streit I would question. - 3flyerkids
Yeah I think the VDV hate is going to go down if he keeps producing.
Hakstol is a good coach and I don't see the need for emotion when he has the death stare to make people understand he's not happy. |

His production is somewhat irrelevant to me, because he still gives up more than he gets.
And good luck on him continuing to produce. He's "shooting" 20%. I'm not going to let a few goals change what is pretty obvious watching the game. Same reason I don't flip out when Giroux or Jake haven't scored in a while |

Bellemare being used with Simmonds in every 4 on 4, 3 on 3 situation.
The lack of scratching Mark Streit
Using Cousins in Couturier's spot on the second PP unit.
Keeping Lyubimov out of the line up without good reason and keeping Vandevelde in nightly.
Even with the current winning streak, am I the only one finding it hard to believe Hakstol will be a long term ideal bench boss for this team? The system is fine but the player placement and overall adjustments are questionable every time he makes any changes. - SuperSchennBros
I don't find it hard to believe. |

He is clearly an NHL capable head coach. I like his demeanor and I am definitely a fan of the way the Flyers play, or at least try to play. His lineup favoritism is really the only criticism I've ever had with him. I think he's done a fine job. - YuenglingJagr
I don't know that I consider it favoritism. I think it's a function of what he's got to work with. It's not like he's benching Bobby Clarke to keep CV in the lineup. |

I am not saying VDV is the only one. Has pretty clearly favored Neuvirth, PEB at center, Streit's "intangibles", Manning...
If you want to call that something else, I would be okay with it. It isn't like he is the only coach in the NHL that does it. |

I could never trust Neuvirth the carry the load that a true #1 would have to. Otherwise, I agree. His play, when healthy, is that of a #1 in the league. |

Most of this team gives up more goals than it gets at even strength and on the PK.
Would you be happy if he settled around 10% shooting percentage meaning that last year was an anomaly? The previous season he was at 12% . I'd be happy with 10%. |

Happy with what? His shooting percentage? I think he sucks and he isn't making up for how bad he sucks unless he starts shooting 60%.
He is a career 8.5%, and if you actually take away the two goals his skates scored he is at 12% this season. I really am not saying I am happy/unhappy with his shooting percentage, just pointing out that it is most likely coming down. |

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but happy Ron Hextall goal vs Boston day. Still one of my favorite memories and to me, an astounding feat.
Oh..and thanks for drafting Provy and Kony...

"doc" was actually tolerable back then
also pretty cool that he pretty much called it right before it happened
so weird to see a defenseman pass it to the goalie. just doesnt happen anymore |

I'll just address one point you've made, and start there. I'm quite sure he had a legitimate reason for keeping Lybimov out of the lineup. I disagree that every decision and adjustment he makes, is questionable. Just because someone doesn't agree with it, doesn't make it questionable. - MJL
Except, we all know the Streit/Provorov pair was a bad one and Hakstol was slow to make that adjustment. It has to be made and a month a half later it was made. To your first response, Lyubimov has looked like the same player in every game. I'm not sure what kind of a difference maker Vandevelde is nightly or the impact or Bellemare 4v4 or 3v3. He hasn't scored his first goal of the season yet. |
