I don't want my new 5million dollar man playing on essentially the 4th line. He'll eventually get another shot on the top line but I need a little more out of Schenn. He needs to be more of an impact player not just a role player. - J35Bacher

That worries me.

He is something to worry about right now.
Not sure of where he fits on this team, my guess is at wing in the top six, but with G and Jake, that is not the answer at the moment.
Maybe with Couts as his center.I'd give that a try when 14 gets back.
I think we would all take it back now but at the time you were basically trading a struggling 2 overall pick for a struggling 5th overall pick in a position that the team really needed. - opeth_pa
it was before my reign on here, but I absolutely hated the idea of that trade. It was rumored for a while and my reaction was basically similar to hall for larsson. You had the sense it was inevitable and once you heard the news you just hoped like hell it wasnt straight up...it was

My reaction was the same in the RJ for Hartnell deal... straight up?

The rumor I had heard was Schenn and a 3rd for JvR. When it went down, I was pissed. The fact that it was straight up was just a kick in the junk.
Honestly, that first year, Schenn actually played well. Over the lifetime, JvR has had more success post-trade than Schenn, and it was never going to be an outright win. But in the short term, it wasn't atrocious.
Not sure it works that way. By these measures an employee of the month at Burger King would be more successful? Most professions you aren't awarded a Championship. - PLindbergh31
That is hardly the pinnacle of success at Burger King.

i just felt it was short sighted...one of many half assed measures to fix a defense that no longer had pronger.
I'm not trying to sit here and say JVR was going to be the same player here, I just never wanted Schenn more than him
