How can someone not believe in dinosaurs?

He thinks museums create fossils so that they can charge admission for people to see them.

Because what the trade meant for LA has any relevance here? It was a massive win for the Flyers regardless of what happened with LA. There would've been no cup in Philadelphia with or without Richards. To now have one of, if not the top power forward in the game plus an additional top 6 forward is the result of an incredible trade by Holmgren.

Here are some other assets still with the team as a result of terrible Holmgren trades:

Jake Voracek
Sean Couturier
Shayne Gostisbehere
Steve Mason

Overall body of work Holmgren was a poor GM. That is my opinion. You are free to disagree with it. I don't force my opinion down people's throats. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Holmgren has been in the NHL since 1976 as a player, coach, executive. How many times has his name been engraved on the Stanley Cup?
- PLindbergh31

Yes...the only way to evaluate a player is by the number of champinships he's won.

Man, Eric Lindros, Marcel Dionne, and Doug Gilmour all suck because their names aren't ont he Cup.

Kimmo Timonen sucked for so long...and then finally, the last year of his career, he stopped sucking

The Earth was crated roughly 6500 years ago. Carbon dating is a myth.

Lindros has been in the NHL for 4 decades in 3 different capacities? I didn't realize that.

Same for Ray Bourque and Dave Andreychuk. Teemu Selanne stopped sucking late in his career, as well.

I never said that. But if your measure of a person's success at the NHL level is having their names engraved on a Cup, then Lindros wasn't very good at his job.

You name every bad move that Homer made as a GM that made the Flyers a worse team. I will attempt to counter it with a move that he made that made the Flyers a better team. You wanna go first?

In conclusion, please stop being yourself, that dude sucks as a fan.

Not sure it works that way. By these measures an employee of the month at Burger King would be more successful? Most professions you aren't awarded a Championship.

Holmgren must hate those NHL video games. His trades won't go through.
- PLindbergh31

I know its fun to trash Holmgren fo the bad moves but we keep forgetting he is responsible for the core of this team. Forget the old moves of bringing in Timonen, Briere, Hartnell.....looking at the more recent, turning Carter and Richards (who is sitting at home at the age of 30) for Voracek, Couturier, Cousins, Schenn and Simmonds is a pretty damn good haul. Mason for nothing hasn't been too bad either. if Stolarz and Leier end up being players that trade of Bob is ok.

Holmgren made a lot of bad moves: Amac, Bryz, Kubina, Eminger, etc. But for every bad move and more, he made a great move: Coburn, Read, Leino, Richards/Carter trades, etc. But no, let's just focus on the bad moves and call him a terrible GM.

Employee of the month is like being named to an All Star game. Being the CEO of the world leader of your profession is like winning the Cup. Reaching the pinnacle of your profession.

Can you believe that, under his reign, we only had our best run to the Stanley Cup in over a quarter of a decade? Man, that dude sucked at assembling a team.

The wild part is that he might not be half the player now, that he will be in 2-3 years. He's an inexperienced 19 year old defenseman playing at a high level in the NHL. Pretty special.
- MJL

I like the way he played the 2 on 1 in OT. He didn't go leaving his feet wildly, sliding across. He was patient and then when the pass across was made he was able to slide and block the shot. That was a savvy play.

He just looks smooth out there. Even when he makes mistakes he doesn't look out of place. He looks like a number one. With more time and experience I don't doubt he will be a top pairing all situations defenseman.
