He's getting starter money no matter what. He's got 2 years at 5.75. Even if he's bought out he collects basically 4/year play a new deal likely in the 3-4 range at a minimum. - sditulli
He is playing for his next contract. He took a chance, stayed here and now he is not living up to expectations.
Where is all this buy out talk coming from? I can't think of one guy Lemieux has bought out. Somebody please enlighten me. |

Yes I can't see Flower being bought out. You do that to unwanted trash not a dual winning Cup champ that is loved by all if the things you read are true. Imagine the taste that would leave in the players? As I said before what I've seen Mario do in his life/career is based around loyalty & trust.
I don't think anyone expected Murray to be this good just yet, probably looked at next year sharing starts definitely not this 1. |

All the players moved on from their beloved Jordon Staal. They all found out at his wedding, Staal even said there was tears from himself and alot of them when they found out...but they all moved on. They could (and will) all move on from Fleury as well. You have to realize how many close teammates these professional players have had to move on from over the years, from pee wee to pro.
They would move on from him being bought out if thats the way he leaves. |

He never really had a reason to buy anyone out. Now he does. |

How is he playing for his next contract RIGHT NOW. He has 2 years left on his current deal after this year. 2 years to play for his next contract. He's playing for his next team right now. Also at age 35 he's probably not getting much term or a big pay day. I'd assume short-term basically prove it deals after that age. He might play till he's 40 but I doubt anyone is offering up 5 year deals at that point at a good salary. If he finishes his current deal with strong performance I bet he takes a 2 year deal at a good salary.
Buyout talk is simply worse case scenario. |

If MAF can't be moved. Either his NTC get's in the way or they can't find a taker at all, they'll have to buy him out to preserve Murray in the expansion draft. It's the worst case scenario, but it is an option. There's just no way they can let Murray get away from them. If the expansion draft weren't a factor, they'd be able to wait things out. |

History, he was an all star last year after all. I think he has a good rep throughout the league. |

Let's just hope James doesn't go Jim Benning and trade away both Fleury and Murray, leaving Jarry the starter
- DeflatedPucks
That was Gillis not Benning.
Fleury has no value, you'd have to add a pick to get rid of him. |
