So the Cubs win and the White Sox have to do something so shocking to make the news?

In the pre-game presser yesterday, Bylsma said he should be back Friday.

Its not just the points accumulated their play in general isnt all that great at both ends.

I'm not trying to say Kulikov is great, but I'm not about to say he's bad (or even mediocre) yet.

12 games is a pretty small sample size, and when you factor in that he'd been trying to play through the injury he sustained in preseason before they finally shut him down for awhile, that makes it even harder to determine, IMO.

Im mostly basing it off what ive seen/read from before he got here because as you said its only 12 games. Hes your standard underwhelming 2nd pair guy. As long as hes not overpaid hes worth hanging on to, it just doesnt solve the real issue on D.

I REALLY disliked that trade. Mostly because I thought Pysyk was going to be a solid guy for years, but I'm sure you knew I felt that way. I didn't like what I had heard/read about Kulikov either, but I'm willing to give him a chance to prove me wrong as well.

And honestly, other than a few times in the 12 games, I didn't really have an issue with how he played. So if he can come back from the injury and continue to play like that, it works for me. I don't need (nor expect) every guy on our D to be like Doughty or Keith, and based on how some people react to things around here, that's how they seem to think every defenseman on a team needs to be in order to be successful.

He's not a bad player IMO, but I think mediocre is probably where he sits as far as a top 4 d man.

Goalies don't steal games. They're part of the team. Having superior goaltending relates to having a superior team.

The best indication that Edwin Encarnacion isn't getting the offers he's looking for: Agent Paul Kinzer telling teams there's no hurry to get him signed. Indians, Rockies interested. But Red Sox appear "very unlikely."

It may seem that way since every third post of mine is some version of disgust with the d-core

You need a very good top 4 and i have no confidence in a Risto-McCabe-Kulikov-Bogosian top 4. Thats what i disliked about the Kulikov trade. Its not him, its just that adding him is basically more of the same. They still need a 2nd guy who can really make things happen.

They need a top 2 defensemen.

If McCabe and Kulikov could work together that would be a good 2nd pairing.

I am done with Bogo, he is always hurt.

yep. im leaning more towards the idea of having it spread out too

Pair Risto with mccabe and pair the other guy with kulikov. Either way they need a top 2 guy.

Dustin Brown was a ppg player in those playoffs

Carter and Richards were at .85 ppg as well in those playoffs

That team was stacked

Either or works for me.

We all know Risto can eat a ton of minutes without being a liability, he does have a few things to work on but he's only 22...

I'll still wait to pass judgement until he gets a fair amount of games under his belt here.

And like I said a few mins ago, it's unrealistic to think that our entire corps of Dmen are going to be like Doughty or Keith, which seems to be the expectation of many around here.

He was very effective playing 30 minutes last night just from being away from Gorges. Now imagine if he could be away from gorges and not have to play that many minutes. My god we'd almost look like a competent team

I think with mccabe stepping up, there is a decent foundation with risto, mccabe and guhle moving forward

IMO gorges is fine on the bottom pair
kulikov may be fine is a second pair
bogo is bogo

as long as our second pair isn't bogo kulikov, only need 1, I think we will be fine in 2017
