you hear a lot about roller hockey in so. cal...not so in other places...that said, 'burgy' had a pretty good camp and I thought he had a shot at being the No. 7 d-man on the sabres opening night roster based upon his play in preseason
- Michael Pachla

So. Cal, St. Louis area, and Long Island/NJ are all "hotbeds" (again, relatively) of roller hockey. There are obviously good players from other places, but the most consistently-good players predominately come from those areas.

Bobby Ryan and Stastny were roller guys, Pat Maroon too (he is a good friend of a buddy of mine). Darren Turcotte at one point (or maybe still) coaches one of the Team USA's (there are two). There's a lot more that have played I just can't think of them off the top of my head. It's a fun sport to play/watch, but obviously it isn't particularly popular and I understand why.

Shows are goal scoring is a bit lacking .

Enroth SV% 0.872
Lehner SV% 0.922

Your breath stinks, and I know why

- Der Kaiser

lehner would have similar numbers in front of the leafs d

the d makes 80% of the goalie

the goalies that are winners, find ways to get shutouts instead of 1 goal games or win shoot outs

your better than that

if lehner is above average, he would have a winning record in shoot outs and ot, thus similar w/l record

Good point. But.... He will let 1 or 2 in during regulation. The rest of the team cannot score 1 or 2 to be in the game . Score 3 and win it Not gonna happen.

if your playing a goalie 65%-70% of the games, he is fine for a starter

he is no horse you ride for 70 games a year

there are IMO a handful of goalies worth paying big money and riding, and a lot of 1A goalies, which lehner is

The goalie is not the problem....

Can't put the OT/SO losses on just him, just like you can't put them just on the rest of the team. You need guys that can score and you need a goalie that doesn't allow the other team to score. Currently, we don't have either of those.

Erik Burgdoerfer becomes the 11th defenseman to dress for Buffalo this season.

I thought we were a little thin on D to begin this season. Not sure why he didn't bring in Carlo at this point?

Lehner is fine. But I cant think of 1 game outside of the Ottawa game where I felt he stole a win for us.

Lehner is oft-average

it's not the problem

it's also not elite to steal more than the few games needed to go from a lottery team to a playoff bubble team

I have no issues keeping 2 goalies on the cheap with 5 mil going out each year in a cap era

If we find out tomorrow Lehner is extended at 6 years 6 per, it's a different story

Yup. Sure is. 8 shots against, 5 goals against, 3 saves.

Lehner is also 0-2, and has 0 saves. However, the fact that he has 2 losses and has only faced 4 shots in the SO tells me that the guys doing the shooting for us aren't helping matters any either....

I'll admit, I think Lehner looked better last year (with the wonky ankle) but I think it has more to do with the fact that the D is the major issue.

The other issue is that for a good majority of the season, this team hasn't been able to score more than 1 goal a game.

ding ding ding

not a problem with his current cap hit

when you have goalies on the cheap, if your a decent team, you need better production for what your paying bogo, and need to have that rock d man on the top pair to go with risto

you can't piss away 1/2 your cap on crap bottom roster players

Funny comment Lehner made . They practice shootouts every practice and always makes the save .

Maybe the shooters suck at shootouts or are not NHL players

I think he looks better this season, much quicker, imo...

but the fact remains, Burgdoerfer will be the 11th defenseman dressed for buffalo so far this season

I too thought Burgdoerfer had a shot at being the #7 D-Man to start the season, He had a very strong camp and played well throughout the Pre-Season, I am excited to see him play tonight, I hope does good enough so that he gets a second game at home.
By the way, Guhle looked really comfortable out there on Saturday, he had one shift where he played the situation perfectly and I said that Brad May would highlight that shift to show his capabilities between periods and he did, giving him 5 check marks for what he did right on the shift.
