Sprong looks a lot bigger and that shot is just a bomb, maybe he g s right back into it when he's healthy and they don't send him to junior. It's not like he has anything to prove in the Q. Maybe if they could send him to the OHL where he could learn more of a 2 way game but that's not possible.

Why is Guentzal still sitting? What's the point I understand one game to see from the box but he was playing good hockey with Geno and they can easily put fehr as 13th man
- nh4442

Jakey needs to go back to WBS because he needs to play and play a whole bunch. Keeping him here with 13 guys in front of him is stupid.

You are aware that Sheary has 12 points in 18 games, 2nd under Crosby on CF%, and has been on the ice for 15 GF and 7 A... the only player I would replace Sheary with on the top line is Chris Kunitz, who produces similar numbers and has played, and does play well with Sid, but at this point Sheary-Sid-Horny should absolutely stay together. I just don't think Wilson has done anything to earn a shot with Sid, and Sheary hasn't done anything but prove why he should be on that line.
- j.boyd919

You don't want Kunitz and Hornqvist on the same line. They take up the same area in the offensive zone and would get in each others way. I like Kunitz playing in the bottom 6 for now so he doesn't get burned out early.

I have yet to look at the NHL standings this season, not even once. So I was a little surprised to read the Pens are 2 points back of league lead after a month of basically .500 hockey. If they gave a playoff effort every night (or most periods) they'd be far ahead in the standing IMO...of course that might be able to be said of some other teams too I imagine, though not totally sure.
- MattStrat

It's not realistic to give the playoff effort until the playoffs actual start. The parade of injuries would be staggering.

If it was last season where the bench didn't have access to the monitors then I'd agree. There was nothing on any of the replays that were conclusive enough to overturn that.

Oh No Will Four Goal Fleury make another appearance. Ott one of the lowest offensive teams in the league. Maybe FGF will cure them.

If you finished last season with a .573 point%, you would have been 8th in the East, if you finished with a .500 record, you would have been tied for 13th. It is pretty silly using such a generalization as was made in the original statement on this matter.

I would say that "playing close to .600 hockey" is a term that would be used a lot up here, if we had ever done it in the last decade.

Last season this supposed big drop in standings was only a difference of 11 points (of a possible 164 in a season). One thing you're not taking into consideration here is the OT or SO loss points. The Wings took the 8th spot with 11 OT losses/points. The .500 team (Canadiens) only had 6.

In the west the 9th placed team (Avs) were .500 and missed the playoffs by only 5 points.

I think your calculating it wrong. No way .500 hockey doesn't make playoffs most years. You have to do some kind of correction for otl. 7-7-3 isn't .500 hockey.

Yeah in my examples the .500 teams arnt actually .500 if you count the ot/so loses as straight losses. I just used W's and Regulation L's.
