If the Flyers make the playoffs, which ancient sacrificial method should we use on Neuvirth? |

Did anyone see that movie Tomorrowland? I watched it last night. If you look at it scene by scene, it's a fantastic movie, but as a whole, I have little to no idea of what I just watched. |

Now that Mason has predictably rebounded, I think his body of work has justified the need to start negotiating a long term extension. |

The Aztecs used to get loaded on these giant psychedelic mushrooms for days, even weeks at a time and cut out each other's hearts as offerings to their sun deity.
A personal favorite if I must say. |

Too risky in my opinion. Vegas could still negotiate with him and sign him as their expansion pick. |

Which, again, is why you can pick and choose whatever analytics you would like, to support or disprove whatever argument you choose.
I'm not trying to say that Couturier is a bad player or that VandeVelde and Weise are especially good ones. My point was that basing a player solely on some results from tables of raw data should not be the only way they are measured. - jmatchett383
Well I watched Couturier for these 20 games and I saw him make some uncharacteristic & concerning mistakes on defense, and not get much done on PP2. But offensively at ES he was a big part of the team's best line and but for some unlucky breaks he would have been scoring at his usual rate or higher. You can actually be part of creating offense without getting an assist, and that happened a lot in this small sample.
This is why Konecny and Voracek's 5 on 5 production has gone down significantly since he got hurt. |

Yes it is. The team gives up 2.36 goals for every 60 minutes VdV is on the ice. It only scores 1.56. If you restrict it to just 16-17, the numbers get even worse.
Using 20 games to judge a player is retarded, which is why I'm not doing it, and provided a table that covered three seasons.
If you're going to try and debate this stuff, you really need to do some basic research. GF% doesn't measure production, just like +/- doesn't. To see a player's production you need to click on "Individual Stats" and look at the points they actually scored. Weise is 12th out of 13 forwards in 5 on 5 production this season, but I don't expect him to stay that low because he's produced at a much higher rate the past two years. Just like Couturier, and just like Ghost. - Feanor
Vandevelde since the 14/15 season, has played 178 games. In those games, Vandevelde is a combined -17. As a player that is predominantly a 4th line player, and plays on lines that don't score a lot of goals, that shows that the team is not heavily outscored when he is on the ice.

GF% is a better measure because it doesn't include ENGs.
You also left out that fact that -17 has him second to last on the team, which is very bad for a player who gets easy minutes and limited ice time.

I agree that, over time, Couturier should (barring any lingering injury effects) revert to his norm. Most people that I've seen on here believe that is the case, as most players go through stretches of bad play. Granted, Couturier was always regarded as a fantastic defensive player, and he was suffering badly on that end as well.
And yes, you can be a good offensive player without racking up points. However, when you are playing with the likes of Konecny/Voracek/Simmonds, I think it's within reason to expect more that modest production, and his production (to that point this season) was modest at best.
Again, I still believe he is a very good player and a key to this team's future. However, over the early part of this season, he was playing and producing at a rate much lower than what I had expected. I have come to this conclusion without looking at tables of raw data. |

Well, they do exist. They were never used.
Also, they're born out of old fairy tales where wicked stepmothers were put into coffins that then had nails driven into them before being rolled down a hill and into a lake. |

How many empty net goals in that time span are we talking about?
I didnt leave anything out. I wasnt comparing him to the rest of the team. I was just showing that the team is not being heavily outscored when he is on the ice. |
