In last night's game, Gostisbehere made two bad reads, one being caught on the wrong side of the puck, with a player behind him on the ice, leading to the Wilson goal, and a bad read, and bad decision on an inside turn, leading to open ice and really good scoring chance for Fiala. He has however made some nice adjustments in using the wrist shot more, and getting more pucks to the net.

Gotta say Manning was just as much at fault on that Wilson goal. Way too far up on the play

Vandevelde was where he was supposed to be on the weak side. Gostisbehere was right next to Wilson, and left him to try and deflect the puck, leaving Wilson unchecked. Nice effort by Cousins to try and get back. I agree there needs to be some communication there, and not have both defenseman up aggressively in the neutral zone

Of course. Chris Vandevelde is never not exactly where he is supposed to be.

For sure. Just a real sloppy sequence all the way around.

He's a veteran player, who doesn't make a lot of mistakes.

BGSM might be my favorite goalie related acronym since CSP.
- johndewar

have we had any goalie acronyms since? i can't think of any. i honestly didn't know what the BG was until i asked the other day. i dig it.

although i dont fault vandevelde, the goal shows that being in the right position doesn't always make up for lack of skill

What about Neuvirth for Enroth, and Stolarz stays up as the backup?

Enroth backs up Lyon in the AHL. Flyers gain about $1m in cap space.

- Feanor

Id rather do Mason for Enroth so we can get both goalies back under .900 in sv%

The goal was scored due to players being out of position. How does Vandevelde's lack of skill, come into play on that goal?

Flyers are the hottest team in the NHL right now. 2nd most goals scored. The soft goals are all of the sudden few and far between. Mason's really come around again to his top form. Ghost looks to be settling in more and making good reads and plays to the net. Luby Scooby Do looks like a legitimate NHL player. Raffl's confidence is soaring playing back on Giroux's line.
- Pixote Andolini

That nickname, however, is most definitely not a legitimate NHL nickname.

In all seriousness, he may have an issue where he needs the be the clear-cut #1 to play his best. I'm not saying jettison Neuvirth, but his best runs as a Flyer are when he's the man.
- jmatchett383

So you're saying he's psychologically unstable?

The players are all sad that Chris Vanillavelde gets to stay int he lineup no matter what and they wanted him to be out for a goal against.

Yes, he is a goaltender.
