I hope he waives his NMC for the draft to make things easier on this team going fwd. I dont think they would select him in the draft so he would be safe.

That would be terrific. Maybe he will be so fed up with this team by the end of year that he sincerely hopes Vegas will take him.

That Stuart signing has to be the worst in Avs history. I will never understand why they rushed to extend him before he ever stepped on Pepsi Center ice.

I suppose it is about time to let him go. He knew he would have been on the hot seat all season and chose the cowards way out.

Agreed. When Sakic hired McFarland to be assistant GM that was a clear message to Patrick: I need help and you're not it!

I have no idea. They went really crazy that offseason extending Stuart, McLeod and Mitchell all before season begin. Still dealing with that mess today.

If they would have waited that year out, Avs would have been in a much better place today bc of it

That should have been McLeod's last year in the NHL. Damn Roy for liking him so much.

I saw Mitchell was on Duchene's line today at practice. This kills me...

So the coach is gone. They have someone that's a much better coach and dealt a roster with some star players and no depth. Some of those star players aren't playing to the level they're supposed to play at. Surely you cannot point the blame at the new coach...better depth addresses the issue, but I'd deal one of those core guys in a heartbeat, specifically Barrie. If Barrie could be traded for Trouba, Hamonic, Pacioretty, Hampus Lindholm or Dougie Hamilton I'd do that. But the thing is that I don't see any of those teams agree to it. I see the Bruins missing out on Shattenkirk and offering Carlo, Spooner and maybe a pick.

After this season say bye bye to Iginla, Stuart's dead cap hit, Mitchell, hopefully Mcleod, Soderberg, Gelinas, Tyutin. I don't know how I feel about Martinsen and Comeau. Martinsen is a big body that played his best game ever vs Dallas on the road and Comeau has been better since returning from injury. And I thought Colborne would be a 20 goal scorer?

That Grimaldi kid is small, skates fast though. Reminds me of the offensive version of Kyle Cumiskey from years ago.

In the first few years when Mitchell came here he scored at least 10-15 goals per season. In the last few years his offensive production went way down. Then we waive him and after nobody picked him up he's been in and out of the lineup and reduced to a 4th line role. And suddenly he's playing with Dutch? That aint right...

The Avs don't need grit players that can't do anything else.

I also didn't say I wanted grit. I want fire and passion and I want it to come from the star players. The type of guys that expect to win every single time.

If I were that good at hockey and someone stole my puck and beat me and my team again and again I'd be going Happy Gilmore on their ass.

Gif assist? "That's my puck baby, don't you ever touch my puck."

I'd say Cody isabout as passionate as anyone on the team, sure he ain't the goal scorer, but he defends his team, he works hard in the corners, and he does his job. That's why he's still playing, that and a good fight is about as exciting as it gets right now.

Watched Grimaldi A LOT while he was in UND. Reminds me of Tyler Ennis. Kid was a Colorado College killer. Supprised he hasn't had more of a chance at the NHL level.

No one doubts his passion, but the simple fact is he isn't good enough anymore. That is why even with his passion he gets 6 minutes a night.

His fights rarely have that emotion anymore, they are just BS. You fight 45 seconds and then you pat the other guy on the back. The intensity is there and then it is gone just like that and I hate to break it to you, but we've all seen it and it doesn't pump anyone up except a few simpletons in the stands.

The way the game is nowadays, if you're dropping the gloves then you better be good at other areas as well. I can't think of a team that has an enforcer on it and that's their sole responsibility.

No, I get where you're coming from but on the flip side is a 4th liner, getting 6 mins a game really breaking us right now? Ya but I wish our top guys had the passion too. I remember forsberg specifically, if someone hit him and he didn't like it you had an x on ur back and he was comin.

He sort of is, you are paying 1.3m to a guy that makes 0 impact during the game. Usually its a negative impact bc of a poor defensive play.

You never lock up and over pay for guys like McLeod. You can find guys to fill that void all over the world. Martinsen is a prime example.

So if they resign Martinsen, how much you say he makes

less than 1m. Teams dont win when they spend big money on 4th line players.
If you have a proper depth system, if they want want to sign for that, well you have ELC contracts waiting in line to take that spot hungry to play in the NHL
