Dude, trading Mackinnon is the worst thing we can do. The guy tries and makes something happen every shift! Mack, Rants, Dutch are untouchable on "O".
- Avsrchamps01

I would agree with those 3, however I have Landeskog in front of Dutch for untouchabes. If a deal comes up where you can move Dutch for a pure winger. I think you explore it. I rather keep Dutch but if there was lets say him for pacioretty style deal. I wouldnt say no

Boy that would be a tough deal to say no to but when I think of Dutch, I think of someone that cares, someone that's always been a fan of this team and someone that wants to do whatever it takes to win. He hasn't had a good consistent line mate since Thomas Fleischmann. And that's 2010-11! Stastny wanted out and saw dollar signs. ROR=Greedy ba$tard, Landy = hurt, and they stack him with Mack in order to get some offense going.

Here's a list of the "Core" players in which order I would trade them (not including Rants)

1. Barrie
2. Landy
3. Varly
4. Dutch
5. EJ
6. Mack

As Bednar said, "too many passengers". Guys that have a paycheck and don't care. I would have traded Barrie + Landy for PK Subban this offseason.

I'd do this...

Barrie
Landy

Pacioretty
Beaulieau
high draft pick

I keep Landy off that list. Avs need Wingers so moving your only consistent top line LW is just asking for trouble. Avs have a lot of Cs in the system and on the current roster so you could survive moving one out in Dutch.

Yakupov best offensive year was 33 points playing 81 games. MacKinnons worse season was 38 points playing 64 games. MacK is on pace for a 54 point season and is as snake biten as a guy can be with his shooting%. He is not the problem

If you think MacK is a Yakupov level bust, you have clearly dont want hockey enough. I thnk you might need to start looking for another team to cheer for, bc you cant even be rationale

- DDM-Coga

On pace and final results are never the same. Ou don't build a team around 50 point players.

You said he was a Yakupov level bust, and Im telling you that he is out producing Yaks best years during his very worst years. So what you say something dumb like that and dont want to stand behind it now?

Does Mack need to be better. Yes...but its not like he doesn't have the ability to do so. Hes 21 and has all the tools in the world. Its not just guys like me who people consider a fan boy who think this....go read all the articles that the rest of the Hockey World are saying. Even with his shooting% woes this year, they still think hes arriving. The way he drives plays, excels through the neutral zone, the amount of shots he gets on net. Its coming together, slowly, but it really is coming together.

You are just being irrational and blind to these facts and just concentrating on his point totals in this portion of the season

straight up 1 for 1. Do not over complicate deals here with side pieces and picks.
If you are trading a Top 6 player, you are asking for one back of similar age and production.

Totally agree, picks and prospects at this point in time is just prolonging our situation. We need a rob blake style trade, we need Kariya selanne style signings at free agency, enough Richardin around.
- _AVZ_

Kariya got injured playing in Colorado as he always did and Selanne was a bust in Colorado. He was a healthy scratch in the playoffs.

We'd probably disagree on this but I'd offer either player #1 or player #2 from my list for Patches.

Barrie and Landy both have a higher cap hit, but Patches is a multiple 30G Scorer and is not getting along with his bonehead of a coach.

He is also a soft defensive player, so moving one of your better 2 way fwds in Landsekog for him only makes things worse for this team.

You dont move Landy, there is no other player like him on this team currently or in this organization prospect wise

No interest what so ever in Fowler or Vatanen, I dont see them as an improvement in the Top 4 compared to Barrie, EJ, Zads, especially with the draft coming up. Trading for D in season is the alst thing the Avs should be trying to do. Cant protect 5 D bc they are stuck with Beauchs NMC

Teams like the Ducks and Lightning have playoff aspirations, they arent going to be trading good players.

Avs need to target the Islanders, etc . Teams that are under preforming ad see if they can pry lose a Strome, or De Haan

- DDM-Coga

That Beauchemin NMC is just brutal, but no doubt we are stuck with him. And I think every team's GM is looking at Colorado just like you're looking at Islanders etc. I just hope Sakic doesn't trade a dollar for 3 quarters.

Drij, Mackinnon is a superstar in the making. This is the kind of guy a team should be built around. Is he there yet? No, but give him a little bit more time. He's a train on skates and gives his all every shift. The pucks haven't been going in for him as they should but the dude is a beast.

Why do people still try and talk to this guy? He is as simple as they come and has not once added something constructive to this blog.

Big names is what I'm trying to say, maybe not the best examples as you say compared to tyutin, Colborne, etc

I want to see more leadership from Landy. I want to see the guy that stood up to Byfuglien last year, the guy that hits anything and everything. And I want to see him put the puck in the net more consistently. 25 goals a year sounds about right for a player of his caliber. It's going to take him a few games to get up to speed when he returns, but I want to see more production from him. It's a big deal to wear the C and I expect more from him.

Stuarts dead cap space hurt the Avs this year. And lets be honest that has a lot to do with Roy. He had his hand in trading for him and extending him.

They had 4.5m to sign a Dman and Top 9 fwd, thats the best they could do. If they had 8m to do it without Stuarts cap hit, they would have landed better players

I hope he waives his NMC for the draft to make things easier on this team going fwd. I dont think they would select him in the draft so he would be safe.

I just want to see some fire from the star players. I want to see that they are just as pissed as everyone in this forum. We need Roy on skates in the form of Landeskog, Duchene, Mack, Barrie and Johnson. Part of the problem is they are too soft.

Those aren't available unfortunately. I am sure there are a few 2014 Iginlas out there to be had, but that isn't the answer either.
