Reading books on an e-reader. Why a person would want to voluntarily look at even more screens is beyond me.

Because I can have hundreds of books on my tablet. And read stuff online if that library is appealing at the moment. Or go get a new book from Amazon or whatever and be reading it in moments.

In May of 2010 Tallon took over a middling team in the Panthers, broke it down and built it back up to a 103 point playoff team in six years. So what do they do, the owner changes the entire organization and now they're about to enter the middling years all over again
- LeftCoaster

That's an intellectually dishonest way of looking at it. Not you're fault, you're just echoing whats been said on the radio and TV all week. But their 103 point season was built on lucky results.

Jagr, Huberdaeu, Barkov and Ekblad had insane shooting percentages and they won despite not being a strong possession team (no team over 4 years won half their games without at least a 49% CF). I bet if I looked it up they also won a ton of one goal games.

So, they looked at the process and realized the results were more favorable than they could expect to repeat. So, they made some moves. Time will tell how those moves paid off, but you can already say that bringing in Marchessault and Demers were great moves.

Psysk for Kulikov was an out and out heisting and they don't even have the player they received for Gudbranson on their team yet, so hastily judging them at this point is ridiculous.

If they have an underwhelming record this year, it's because Huberdeau is injured, other injuries, Ekblad has played like crap, Yandle hasn't been as expected and Barkov and Jagr have seen their shooting percentages regress to the norm.

Other than Yandle, not one of their 'analytics moves' is at fault for where they are. And I think anayltics or not, anyone would have signed Yandle.

Of course, I'm also one of the only people who talked about how the Oilers didn't even dress a healthy team once last year, so I'm not sure a nuanced look into things is what people want.

I disagree, but only because I feel he was chemically castrated by the move and has only now gotten back to cutting commentary. Cutting commentary at the easiest target possible.
- AdamFrench

Might be an easy target, but it's a necessary one. And not everyone else being cutting at all, so it matters a lot.

Colbert definitely struggled to find his footing for the first month or two of show and I had basically the same criticism then, but he's really just decided to go for it and be himself - and not just against Trump either, there was the hilarious bit when he was the twin brother of his own alter-ego which Comedy Central claimed to own and a few other things.

I see your Criticism being valid, but I think Colbert has been refreshing and hilarious.

Expansion draft is going to hurt Columbus.
Keeping Clarkson over Atkinson, or Wennberg, ouch.
As well as the Jack Johnson vs David Savard issue on D

- puckhead17

There is no way their losing Wennberg. I am sure there are teams who can help them, GMS tend to get creative. They could also do an under-the-table move with Las Vegas.

Hey, they sold millions of those things, so you're not alone. But also, millions of people cross intersections while looking at their phone, people are on Twitter, they say 'because verb', buy Beyonce records, watch Modern Family etc. etc. etc.

Basically people suck and have very bad taste. I think reading e-tablets is about as cool as smoking electronic cigarettes, listening to the Foo Fighters or Maroon 5, or wearing Khakis.

Lots of people like things I hate. Some people say "flip the script" and others buy $200 non-prescription sun-glasses and think the Hangover movies are funny. It's cool with me, I just reserve the right to mock anything I don''t like.

Well that's not exactly what I'm saying, but sure. You could always make paper out of hemp or other organic materials. I may be wrong, but I don't think they clear-cut old-wood forests to make paper anymore.

- James_Tanner

No, now they clear cut newer forests.

I work in a paper mill town. This place makes a variety of paper products.

E books are just a medium for content. I prefer paper myself but I don't think the medium you use to read has anything to do with the quality of the content.

Gross. Do you know what they use to make the paper these days? Waste wood and sawdust is my guess? One of those weird things you use all the time and never think about.

I would guess that the world going largely paper free has caused paper factories to cheap-out and become more polluting than they used to be when profitable.

However, I stress that is a guess.

Until we stop letting Ikea cut down 1% of the world's forrests every year for crappy furniture (assuming that meme was true hahaha) I'm not gonna worry about my use of paper in the books I buy.

It has nothing to do with the quality of content. It's a purely aesthetic choice. Healthy too, as I assume staring at a screen for an extra 20 hours every week isn't good for you.

There is not a single (frank)ing time Eklund has broken a story. I know he's your boss but don't be ridiculous.

Tanner you calling out others for being closed minded is Donald Trump levels of hypocrisy. You think disagreeing with other people makes you open minded. The reality is that you've proven yourself to be astoundingly narrow-minded by mocking anyone who disagrees with you. You're like the progressives who scream about open mindedness and tolerance but try to shut down anyone with an opposing view.

False. He broke Big Buff and then Ladd to the Thrashers.

And JVR for Schenn NOT happening.

Ahaha Tanner man, come on.. You're going on about how you love the DFS site and then you say, "The day I stop writing writing a daily column is the day I stop going on the internet at all."

You're expecting them to mail you all their columns daily?

Oh i'd love to see proof of that. Because every time I've seen Eklund "break a story", he's showing up in my twitter timeline a minute or two after actual insiders.

That one was legitimately real. He got poop for saying the trade was happening and he got all of it right. Other than that, can't say.

The problem is that open-mindedness and tolerance do not and should not extend to bad ideas. Yes, we all need to try to live further outside our own bubbles, but that doesn't mean respecting every single thing other people do/say.

Facts are real, some ideas are stupid. Don't think I'm open minded? I could not possibly care less. I revel in being a snob if you want the truth.

There was also the time when Dreger had to credit him during trade deadline day and he almost puked. I remember it, wish I could remember the deal.

Do you have examples? The guys entertaining but I can't recall a time when he was the first to relay some info. Usually just relays what he hears on HNIC and NHL network and speculates on it. Which is entertaining

Atleast he referenced him. Look back at eklunds trade deadline or free agent live timeline. Almost all the sources say Eklund and it's always after they announce it on TSN. Should he not give them the credit? I guess it's ok for him to steal the credit from them

60 shots is crazy. I think I read it's been three years since a team had that many shots.
- James_Tanner

replied to the wrong part but oh well LOL

Totally disagree with you. The Panthers are getting geered as it was a classless way of handling things. According to multiple sportscast, All 29 other GM's disagree with the handling of the coach. So if ALL the GM's disagree with the handling then I would agree with them instead of your view.
If the owners act like this, as Rowe even went on record to state it was not his decision but the owners. Florida will have just as much issues as Toronto's past owners (the pre Shanahan/Babcock era). During the Richard Peddie/John Ferguson jr era not many high profile free agents would sign in Toronto. I'd agree with Don Cherry and state that the way the owners in Florida are handling things, they will be hard pressed attracting future FA.
