You need to read the casebook and memos. That's where the nitty gritty and situations are discussed.

That's fair, but you posted the rule twice without the advantage phrase, without a source, I've posted the rule, with it, with my source(the NHL's version of the rule book from NHL.com). So why would yours be different? That's all I'm asking.

Why are we limiting it to his age group? Also his minutes mean absolutely nothing. Dion Phanuef was a 25+ minute a night guy with Toronto, was he elite?

Parayko
Lindholm
Ekblad
Werenski
Provorov
Jones
Trouba
Reilly
Ristolainen

All good young D men. Only reason Risto might be considered better is because he's constantly on the ice because our D core is so bad otherwise

- sbroads24

A number of reasons. Experience chief among them. The more you do something the better you get. Hopefully.

Edit: It's not the raw numbers that matter, but the situations those minutes come in. I'm not talking about offensive or defensive zone draws or QoC either, I'm talking about is he logging minutes when the team is down, or ahead, PK, PP? In the last 5 minutes of the game. All those things tell you more than just the number of minutes he plays.

His other advanced stats have shown well or at least better that his possession numbers. Not all corsi against is equal.

Honestly, you need to stop the condescending attitude on this site. It's nauseating, it just gets so old.

Sure, and we aren't the 2014-15 Sabres anymore. He shouldn't be bottom 2 in possession, like he is on this team. Elite D men are never that low. Never

Cherry picking stats to make a point is a thing on here you know that.

Again, no one is saying he's bad. You're like making this argument up in your head. Besides Time on ice, how is Ristolainen "elite"? I'm open to hearing otherwise.

For the record, I'm not calling you a liar, I'm genuinely wondering why your rule book is different to the one on the NHL's website, especially since the only change was to the wording of the puck over glass penalty and everything else was left as is.

41 points as a 21 year old.

Edit: On a pretty low scoring team too.

Ok...

Top 5 TOI/Game in the NHL right now:

Byfuglien - 26gp; 2g; 12a = 14 points
Suter - 23gp; 4g; 12a = 16 points
Karlsson - 24gp; 4g; 15a = 19 points
Doughty - 24gp; 3g; 8a = 11 points
Risto - 24gp; 0g; 12a = 12 points

That Doughty guy must suck.....

So guys like Ghost are elite too? Kilingberg?

Are we just basing this on points?

He was 55.77 today. His numbers tend to go the way of the team which is not uncommon.

If the majority of the team was above the 50% mark and he was at 45 id be really worried. The elite possession players tend to be guys who generate a ton of offensive chances (although as kane has shown us that can be misleading) or are very fast and good with their sticks (tanev).

Risto more often than not will use his body to position himself in a way to keep guys to the outside simply cuz he doesnt have the stick work or the speed to do otherwise, which is fine. it just means they should probably go and find someone who can. Which is why the Kulikov trade is a weird one.

Wouldn't that by extension make Lindholm/Doughty passengers? There aren't too many cases where a bottom feeder possession team is boasting an elite possession player. And I emphasize elite possession player, not elite player in general.

Right but over 82 games how many additional wins does that really give you? I honestly don't mind the trade it just seemed kind of pointless.

Edit: I get we got a higher pick just feel like they should have aimed a little higher.
