Patience for other teams, but if you aren't full blown tanking, there is no patience

My outlook for this season was try to compete for a playoff spot and if we got in, good experience for the young players and if we didn't, I hope we miss big and get a good draft position.

Win win outlook. (even if we just miss the playoffs, JB is pretty good at drafting and at least some contracts are coming off the books.)

As it turns out, we are struggling and constantly hear that we are sucking wrong from much of the media that expected the team to suck. it's pretty fecked up.

I like this WD quote: On Stecher being a target: “You’ve got to love his effort. If everybody played like that, I’m OK. That was a tough team and he took some heavy hits and he was banged up a little coming out of the game before (Tuesday against Minnesota). He’s a gamer.”

Is it? I take it to be pointing out that you can't have your cake and eat it too. Deciding to tank at the TDl is great, it's just not that different than deciding at the beginning of the year when you know your team sucks.

It's a process. You try to improve with the options available to you. Off-season UFA and out of cap trades. Start of season development and play. Lost season by draft position and sell high trades. At Draft quality picks and long term trades. It's a fluid process. You can't know where you are until you get there.

No kidding. People seem to be all about "trending up" and "projected" they forget that the future holds many many variables and that you are respected and admired for what you've done, not what you hope to do.

I love the Canucks, anything can happen, the game is played on the ice, not on paper. We constantly hear predictions that don't come true and some that do.

Hutton stepped up last season and Stecher this one. Guessing neither was expected to make the impacts they did.

patience takes time and often people rise to the challenge in front of them. I want to see what happens.

That's a huge part of the criticism. In Edmonton or Toronto, after years and years of incompetence, they were able to handle the little mistakes and missteps because they realized there was a larger goal that the team was working towards.

Much of the media and fans in Vancouver are seemingly ONLY concerned with the little things and they forget very easily to look at the big picture. It's like people need to be told yes mistakes will be made along the way, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And no, failing to move Hamhuis for a 2nd or 3rd round pick is not why the team is where it is

All season long WD has been giving high praises to Stetcher. He wants others to take notice. This is what drove me crazy about all the whining about JV. This is how you motivate other young players and to change your lines and dish out minutes to focus on solving one kid's inabilty just flies in the face of the standard you want to set. It ruins a good example of *why* you get rewarded.

I think it's more a long the lines that JV needed someone that was going to still develop his game. We all know he has the talent, he just needs to be refined.

Yup. It's all about the appearance that the Canucks don't have shiny new toys to focus on.

But it is Ek's loss.

This page only makes $$$ on Hits for his advertisements so due to the Leafs regs being unable to handle themselves, EK loses $$$.

I am sure it is obvious that Ek's number of Cash Cows in down quite a bit since the hey day of trades prior to the CBA changes. Leaf/Canuck discussions would be one of the few glory spots left.

And Dozzer, unable to be neutral, just screws his boss.

I honestly can't believe any Canuck fans are giving kudos on how the Leafs rebuilt. Thy have made the playoffs once in the last decade
- VANTEL

On top of that there's no reason to believe their ingenious "rebuild model" will generate anything more than a better chance at making it to the playoffs so they can get their asses handed to them.

Seriously, we're tired of just making it to the playoffs. Winning a couple of rounds isn't that impressive. Making it to the finals? Been there, done that. (A few times over the last 4 decades). We want to win. And we won't do that picking spindly, high-skill guys who disappear when the going gets tough. Sure we need to add some high-end skill, but everybody knows that. Even Benning and Linden.

Having 3 second round picks for a few drafts instead of just one might be good, but it doesn't guarantee you're going to pick winners. You don't need to be an analytics guru to know that. So stop telling us how brilliant the Leafs strategy is, and start asking which of their Taylor Hall's they're going to have to trade for an Adam Larsson?
