And the Flyers benefited from wedding gifts from the refs not calling anything on them in the 2nd! worst reffing "performance" I've seen this year! - Raven33
Yes...the referees all love the Flyers, the belles of the league's ball. Agreed.
Actually, his ice time is down about a minute per game from last season, which is asinine given how well he's played all year so far but it seems to be working for him regardless.
Bill, any speculation as to why Lindblom's ice time is down? You'd think if a guy was lighting it up like it sounds like Lindblom is doing, he'd be getting more ice time, not less.

Let's be honest; that game was a clutch and grab fest. I was waiting for the camera to pan down to the benches and find Jacques Lemaire engaging in maniacal laughter.

They signed some high-priced import players and salaries have kind of driven ice time to some degree. That's pretty much why.

Exactly. It was a game only Lemaire, Hitch or, well, Guy Boucher (especially without Anderson or Methot available), would enjoy.
It’s not inaccurate to say that if Andrew MacDonald has a case to be considered one of your team’s best players on the night, then you probably didn’t deserve to win the game. However, that shouldn’t take away from the fact that MacDonald did truly play well, and it’s not even grading him on a curve because the rest of the team looked so bad. The 30-year defenseman was consistently making positive plays, whether it was timely clears of loose pucks from the crease area (this happened at least twice) or even defensive disruptions in the neutral zone. MacDonald also drew two Bruins penalties, the second of which was a borderline roughing penalty sold perfectly by the oft-criticized Flyers defenseman.
Now, one game doesn’t change the fact that Andrew MacDonald has been ineffective for Philadelphia during the 2016-17 season. But if we’re going to criticize him for poor performances, it’s only fair to praise him when he provides positive results for the Flyers. The numbers back it up as well — MacDonald led the defense in score-adjusted Corsi For percentage and was +28.32% relative to his teammates. With Brandon Manning dealing with a possible concussion and Nick Schultz little better by advanced stats than MacDonald, this isn’t time for fans to fret that one good game may blind the coaching staff to his obvious limitations. MacDonald is going to play for a bit, so you might as well root for more games like this one rather than scream for a benching.

He had a solid game, except for a boneheaded icing at the end of the 3rd. Still for 5 million per, it's nothing to write home about.
No MJL, it doesn't kill me to write that he had a good game. I want every Flyer to succeed as much as possible. What kills me is that AMac isn't playing the way he did last night every game. For 5 million per season, last night's effort is the minimum that I would hope and expect each and every night. He absolutely played well last night and I'm glad to see and say it. However, he needs to do this on a long term consistent basis before I get excited about or change my opinion of the player and his value to the team.
As I've said numerous times before, If he had been signed to a 4 year, 15 million dollar deal, I wouldn't be complaining. However when you are signed for 30 million over 6 years, like it or not, the bar gets raised. And, on way to many nights, his performance has not reached the level it needs to be at. The player has spent time in the minors and has, at times, been a healthy scratch. You would expect more from someone being paid 5 million per season.
I've been following the Flyers since the early 70's and I want the franchise and each and every player to succeed. It gives me no pleasure whatsoever when they don't. - BiggE
Totally agree.
And I understand everyone will take the money. But your right. Fair or not when you get paid what he did then you get held to a higher standard. Yes MacDonald might be a slightly over paid top 4 guy. Problem is he is probably the first guy out when the guy making 975k comes back. So he might have one or two good games but he hasn't done near enough for a guy making what he does.
They gotta give Bellemare that goal. He clearly tipped it, and he's not going to get many more this season. - Feanor
I must say I loved his quote at the end of the game, "if I get credit for it or not it really doesn't matter to him as long as we won." He is TEAM first.
