If you're not a playoff coach it's hard to imagine you can even fathom being an urgency coach.
Definitely time to trade, demote or waive Edler & Tanev now that the Canucks have an all star defense.

Can you win 2 Presidents Trophies in one season?

- Marwood

They're still trying to figure out how they can tank and make the playoffs at the same time. If they can pull that off, why not the coveted single season dual President's Trophies? It'll be one for each twin. Consolation for when they get buried on the fourth line next season so Bo and Boeser and take their place as the first line.

youngest D core in the league - what do you guys expect? They're going to take their lumps - I'm surprised The Ducks didn't jump out to a 3-0 lead in the first, but I'm also surprised the Nucks didn't tie it in the third considering the flurry of chances they had. Game could've gone either way.

Burrows, Sbiza and Virtanen are the only + players on the team

It had the same result playing the same team 18 games earlier with Tanev Edler Dorsett and Hansen in the lineup.Stecher was in Utica and and Tyramkin was in the press box.

4-2 loss boring offence start of a 9 game losing streak.

Well I certainly will not base their play on your observations. I base my observations on the eye test. None of the D could get the puck out of the zone, several times in a row. There was no man coverage, there was no tape to tape passes. There was scrambled play chasing the puck, there were two defenders going behind the net, there was no body contact, the D sucked.

They played well enough alright, well enough to suck at defending, and I'm being a realist.

I must have been watching the same game as you...this defense has some potential but is nowhere near nhl calibre. Badly need the steadying influence of Tanev/Edler.( If 1 gets traded I could live with that). Larsen is absolutely horrible, weak & ineffective.
If that was supposed to be "exciting" hockey then we are in trouble.

Anyone else out there getting tired of the lack of hitting and/or the Sedan's style of play. I MO the Sedin's should be 3rd liners I am tired f no look passes, the way they help the other team kill penalties waiting for perfect pass, the lack of inclusion of point men as an option, the lack of speed etc.

You're right, our D have potential but are still very young, so what we all saw last night is par for the course, I don't understand the sky is falling attitude of posters here? This is a day to day process, calm down. We're rebuilding and those type of games are gonna happen more so than not, but its all steps in the right direction.

Tanev/Edler are moot points, cus when they're in the lineup, everybody is screaming about how terrible they are and how we need to trade them, so now they're out and suddenly they're difference makers and we need them back?? choose a side and stick with it guys (not you in particular Rueben)

the Sedins have played this way their entire career, when they're on the ice, they control the play and they have the ability to slow the game down to their pace. they let the other team chase them around while they cycle and make everyone look like kids playing pond hockey. YES some nights they get suppressed but they still win games for us on a regular basis. Their time here is almost up so we just gotta deal/enjoy it while it plays itself out.

We finished in 28 th place last year . Tryamkin played 13 games for us , Gaunce 20 Stecher 0 Gudbrandson 0 Menga 0 Chput 0 Labate 0

Two years earlier we finished 26 th spot . We have won 3 playoff games since 2012 .

Blaming the kids is stupid.

This team has been soft and free falling longer than Tom Petty has been slurring vocals .

It was time for change in 2012.

Canucks looked like a different team last night than the one that played Tuesday. Seems like Anaheim just always has our number.

Anyway, this site should be fun for the next couple of days

I was at the game last night and let me just say thank god the tickets were free and the beer was strong. Such a snoozer, I actually laughed during the first intermission when they played the first period highlights because I couldnt remember anything remotely interesting from either team happening

watching from home wasn't much different

The problem is, is that even though we know the roster, we still expect amazing things which is definitely our fault. Our only D-men from last year is Hutton and Sbisa.
There are going to be major growing pains but I think the best thing we can do is look at the positives out of it and last night Tryamkin was doing a ton of things right IMO.

Clearing Kesler from the crease like it was nothing was awesome.
Chaput is feisty and got under the skin of Getzlaf and Garbutt a few times just with his play.
Stecher continues to show he belongs and is a VERY good player.

My one takeaway from last night is: WHY OH WHY does BO's line get less ice time than Chaput's line. and WHY does Willy not give the 2nd PP unit more ice time as they have looked more dangerous than PP1 for a long ass time now.

15 more points to 1000! Is it just me or is this the slowest climb to obtain 30 points ever

It's just you. Everything seems to take longer when you are retired and emotional.

Golfing in 58 minutes, although my wife is really really sick, so I'm thinking I might have to forego and be there for her?

My issue with them is the whole team doesnt do one thing consistently. Some games they have a good forecheck, others they transition well, and some games they put everything to the net. Its a total Jekyll and Hyde situation. And yes I know with young players consistency is tough, but a) there are enough vets on the team that can also be more consistent and b) it can be as simple as just being a team that hits every game.

I expect the growing pains, but part of building an identity is to start with one simple part of the game and doing it extremely well consistently. Like telling rookies to focus on defense before developing offense abilities. That is my frustration, more so than lineups, deployment, individual performances, etc. you really have no idea what to expect on a nightly basis from this team

You did a good job hanging in there.

I shut off the Leafs game after 1 minute on Wednesday
