I'm not sure but I'm guessing you're asking for Murray and the expansion draft. I think the buy out period is after the expansion draft isn't it? If not why not just buy out Flower so they dont need to protect him. Or is that what you are suggesting?

Trade Murray for a top pairing d man while everyone thinks he's so great. Then buyout fluery and resign hI'm for around 2 mil. He would still be making more like 4 mil but only 2 would count against the cap right? Never would happen but it would be sneaky if it did.
