Realistically, nothings preventing them from picking up salary right now.

I heard somewhere that it's mainly do to with how it will affect player bonuses for next year. I don't really understand much about anything tho. I do think that it has dragged on far too long tho. Just make a frankin' decision already.

LTIR still count towards the contract limit, and Leafs are at 48/50 (only Blues have more).

True, and I was thinking about including a comment about the # of contracts in the previous post, but I don't see them trading picks for 2+ players, or doing a 5 for 1 deal like grabner.

They're going to put him into Saturdays game wearing Martins jersey. That way when Gudbranson inevitably kills him we still have Martin.

Nope, nor I - but I think that they still want that flexibility. They still have to sign Bracco and Dzierkals for instance, (plus Desrocher/Korostelov) if they want to keep their rights.

I'd maybe rather watch Martin kill Gudbranson. Then see the Leafs trade Cowan's rights to the Nucks to replace their hole on defense. As long as someone is dying tho then I suppose I'm happy.

If they are using ltir, likely 100% of Mathews/nlyander/Zaitsev/marner's performance bonuses will be pushed into next year.

More timely, Sosh and brown may also need to sent to ahl; re: max performance bonus limit.

Ramo is definitely a possibility for the short haul - he's a bit less of a midget anyway. Beyond that, I'd expect a trade or euro FA signing.
