Best ones were 4 and 6 (2 and 3 on the SNES)
I wish they could go back to these medieval themed fantasy games instead of the futuristic emo crap that started with 7. - stinger67
I did enjoy both snes FF games, alot. 6 being my favorite. I played the first one like crazy when I was a kid.
I thought 7 and 9 were very good, FFX was weird but pretty solid...(really? The character is the dream of a dream of a lost civilization? WHAT THE (frank)?)
FF12 I never got into it but I did enjoy the fighting mechanics.
It all went downhill from there. |

I stopped going on too many sidequests in games like these for that very reason.
I might be missing out on some cool stuff but I never finish a game where I don't follow the story.....
One day Fallout new Vegas... I'll come back to you.... I think.... - Scabeh
Playing through the updated version of Skyrim now. Forgot how great this game is. |

The only games where this rule did not apply were both Xenoblades. Still don’t know why I enjoyed all these fetching quests. |

Yeah, the story of a dark knight finally discovering his true paladin self isn’t (frank)ing emo at all.
And Terra is among the most emo characters of the franchise.
(both games were great btw)
12 is criminally underrated. Loved the whole politics thing. |

I dropped out of Xenoblades Chronicles X... it's my most disappointing game on the WII U... I really, REALLY wanted to like it.... but a game that consists in 85% of grinding stuff for around 70 hours..... Considering my gaming time is limited since becoming a father.... it's way too much.
Game was beautiful though and I loved the fighting system! |

Yeah, definetely had not the same vibe than the original. Still loved it, but getting the flying mech was way too long (I (frank)ing hate myself for uttering this sentence) |

My son had an NHL game on that thing too, back when the Devils were good, he was a Broduer fan.
When I played him he always was the Devils and made me be the Habs. |

Anyway...maybe it was because I played 4 and 6 while being a teenager...never got the same enjoyment with the latter games of the series
I mean, there weren't all bad, but I wish I could see them go to similar themed games with the graphics they can do nowadays. |

When 16 bits pixeled characters have more personality then full HD characters who can pretty much look and act like a real human being.... you know there's a problem.... |

75% of Final Fantasy’s main characters are whiny emos.
FF9 on the Playstation was a great throwback to the series’ roots. Still my favourite with 6 and 12 |

I do agree Terra was pretty whiny.
But to be fair, she was also the least important "main" character as you didn't really need to use her that much.

Yeah. It got worse and worse until Squall, and they realized they couldn’t go further; wouldn’t be a great main character if he cut his veins at the beginning of the game. |
