Grant out there last night in the last minute was a joke, just like Mair being on the 1st line.
- SABRES 89

When I was watching the game, I was screaming at the tv (and my wife) to keep ROR and Risto on the ice that entire last 5 minutes. After that I am not sure. Maybe Disco likes Grant because he's good on the draws? He certainly isn't good at putting the puck in the net.

Kulikov (unless signed) will not be on our roster. that could have been part of the brilliance of that trade.. he could work out a deal with Kuli, but not have him sign it till the day after the expansion draft

This is a good fact. Plus I am keeping Bogo on my team until something better comes along. It's not Franson, Falk, Nelson or Fedun.

Serious question, which one of these guys would you want Vegas to select if given the opportunity:

Moulson
Kane
Bogo

All make about the same $$

at that point we didn't necessarily need to put it in the net.. just keep it out. but it would have been nice to have people that can carry possession out there.

i would think it would have to be between moulson and bogo just because of contract length.. bogo is injured all the time and moulson isn't worth the contract but at least healthy. i think i would prefer bogo to go

Not sure. It didn't say in the expansion rules. Just said they had to be between 60-100% year one.

And i believe it is 60% of the full cap. So they would have to get to 43.8

that shouldn't be difficult at all.. plus as i mentioned they could just sign a few free decent agents (such as shat) to high contracts

EDIT: and pick up in expansion or trade for MAF as your goalie

Just so we are all clear, they don't HAVE to be at the cap floor. If they are not they don't get revenue sharing. So they will want to be at the said 60% of full cap, but don't have to.

Now looking at 43.8, that is not that much at all, around $2.19m per player. I mean, that can't be that hard, can it? Not to mention they can sign RFA's (this year) as if they were their own (team cannot match), so chances are that is where they really want to make a splash. Not to mention, most teams are going to expose higher salary players to get some relief. (like Minnesota leaving Pomminville available and such)

The expansion rules state they HAVE to be a between 60-100 of cap.

Edit: The Las Vegas franchise must select players with an aggregate Expansion Draft value that is between 60-100% of the prior season's upper limit for the salary cap.

Also, players can be selected who are not under contract the following season. So Kulikov can be selected from us. Vegas just has to select at least 20 players who are under contract for the upcoming season.

OK, sorry. did not know that. So they do have to take some higher priced players. I do think they will have a chance at guys like Jagr or Hossa because their teams will want to protect younger players (I would imagine).

Moulson for me. He's a PP specialist with 3.5 years left on his contract. He's the only one of the 3 who is a drag on 5 on 5 play imo

The issue for them would be Kulikov could be chosen and then sign elsewhere I believe.

I do think our team is pretty clear cut. The main question will be if we make trades before this time that change that.

As much as you dont want to lose a guy like Ennis, Kulikov or Girgensons, I think that is ok as none of them are our core guys. I would think someone like Kulikov would hurt the most due to just trading for him last year. But I do think Girgensons will be gone before trading deadline.

Teams (like Buffalo) have rules too, as to how many players with year left on their contract we have to leave exposed. Murray will position it so we are not losing anything that will sting.

Sure can. That is why I don't see them taking too many UFA's. Now if the player is an RFA, he can't sign elsewhere, but they do have to take the "best" players they can.
