Reading Eklund's "Rental" post..... I know Doan is a RW, old, and slow, but I have always liked the way he played. About 18 goals, 20 assists, 70 PIM. Gritty. Snarly. Physical. Decent mitts. I wonder if he would/could play LW next to Toews. Maybe could stand in front of the net on PP. Yotes retain a little salary. Panik/TVR/one of our young wingers and/or "b" prospects or 3rd round pick. Intriguing.

Some posters on this board will not be happy to have Doan as a rental... I have to lump myself in there to be honest. He does bring experience and physicality to the lineup, but the Hawks might be looking for a middle 6 forward who can take draws and play an aggressive two way game.

I don't know how much to read into the latter part of who was sent up from Rockford to Indy because Jake Dowell got suspended for two games, but the former part has me stroking my goatee:

D's Nick Mattson and Johnathan Carlsson and F's Evan Mosey and Bryn Chyzyk were called back up to Rockford Monday.

That's 9 D on the team, 10 if supposedly Robin Press is coming to the team from overseas.

I could be using my Jump to Conclusions mat too soon, but something just seems odd. A**hattery, maybe, John?

I won the U18 IL State Championship with Evan Mosey and grew up playing roller hockey with him LOL. Just skated with him last Spring at Men's League....always been a finisher. Awesome to see him to make it to the AHL!

Watched the Oil vs Yotes games this weekend and Doan is laboring to keep up with the pace. Hard Pass, IMO.

According to Chris Kuc's "source" Toews has a back injury that is "not serious."

So on a scale from 1 to paralyzed (most serious), I wonder where he sits.

The Hawks have 8 prospects in juniors at the moment (7 forwards, 1 defenseman). All 7 of the forwards are point-per-game performers at the moment with one of them being a 2 point-per-gamer (DeBrincat). The defenseman (2016 7th rounder Jake Ryzcek) has 2 G, 4 A in 17 games and is a +14.

I know stats don't tell the whole story and that performing well in juniors is no guarantee of success at the NHL level, but that's still a pretty good group on the face of it.

Only problem is his height? However , you never know he might be as slick as TT but has the guts to be willing to go to the tough areas.
