The point isn't to bring in Hamilton to replace a decent defencemen like Carrick. The point is to have him replace one of the poopty defencemen.

JVR + poopty defencemen for Hamilton is more like it.

Agreed. If they can leave carrick out of the trade, even better. Just going by the speculation of rumorbreak

But in saying that no one is taking the leafs poopty defenceman. They are here till they are injured, benched or waived

I've yet to see evidence to back this up.

Not saying to trade one. Just don't trade a decent one.

apart from Rielly, Zaitsev and Dermott no d-man on Leafs should be in the 'untradeable' category. Nielsen is a 'maybe' for that category - I personally think Leafs should keep him.

In fact, I would not be surprised to see a Nielsen - Dermott pairing in 2018 on the Leafs.

I don't mind Carrick, but if you have to give him up for an upgrade on D, you do that - in particular with Dermott being the better version of Carrick.

Maybe the Scabers would be interested in Nylander, so he can reunite the brothers. How about Sam Reinhardt?

Just got word it would be Nylander for Hamilton straight, sort of like the Hall for Larsson deal. (I work at a major sporting broadcaster)... Still just a rumour but that is what its looking like. Not likely to get done this week either, as they play each other tmrw night.

very much doubt this - in case Hamilton for Nylander would happen - will be just a 1-for-1 deal.

Hamilton + Tkachuk

for

Gardiner + Nylander + 2nd round pick SJ 2016 + Holland

I could see happening.

Leafs should be delighted with such a trade, Burke did acquire Gardiner before..

Ignoring the upcoming argument of who has more trade value Nylander or Tkachuk, if you ignore them there is no way Calgary give up Hamilton for Gardiner, Holland and 2nd. And honestly if I am the Leafs I do not make a huge shakeup and give up extra assets to swap Gardiner for a younger RHD. Not worth the risk that Hamilton doesn't become a top line D.

there is no trusted sources - highly doubt anything leaks from the leafs organisation on trades.
and if it comes from Calgary, surely is a wish from that end.

Hamilton >>> then Gardiner (but Gardiner has good trade value now, Hamilton not so much)

and

Tkachuk (ex London) has probably a bit less value than Nylander but would be great fit with Matthews and Marner on Leafs future 1st line.

Yes but if Hamilton doesn't become an elite top pairing guy then he will have the same role that Gardiner has now. But that was just a caution for the Leafs to look at, because of the difference in value the Flames NEVER make this deal. Tkachuk has more potential than Nylander but Nylander is the better player right now (he is 2 years older and further in development). Flames don't do it.

Are you like 16 playing NHL17 on Easy? What makes you think the Flames are getting rid of Tkachuk? Because he was a London night and hunter wants him? this is not the WWE................................. Tkachuks name was probably never even brought up..... Settle down kid.
