Griffin Reinhart for a 1st. - AdamFrench
Yeah, those Reinharts, nothing like their father.
DOn't forget the Gudbranson trade.
And that's what scares me about trading for d-men.....rarely do the d-men live up to the assets given up for them....schenn for JVR. |

So...Dougie Hamilton cost the Flames:
First-round pick (No. 15) in the 2015 NHL Draft and the two second-round picks (Nos. 45 and 52).
I imagine the price hasn't changed? - mykokes
Yeah, but the Bruins used it on a third rounder, so make it two 2nds and a 3rd |

I'm hoping that's exactly what the Leafs focus on, if not this year but next.
Actually, Instead of Hamilton, I'm hoping that the Leafs target Rasmus Andersson and Oliver Kyllington from the Flames. - mykokes

And we should give them time to develop.
I don't think that 53 teams missed on a sure thing in Duncan Keith when he went 54th overall, but you look at his draft class and he's the best.
Leafs will eventually hit on a player like that and develop them properly. We just need patience. - TheMussel

Not the argument you made.
Brodie was never considered a scrub by Calgary. |

I'm sure he was viewed the same way Rinat Valiev is viewed by the Leafs right now. And scroll back, Valiev, Nielsen and Dermott were all guys I wanted to get a cup of coffee this season, and all are the same age or younger than Brodie was when he spent his first season in the AHL. |

Keep drafting - TheMussel
I agree - Keep drafting, - but also keep in mind that d-men - take way longer to develop, granted, there are a couple of exceptions. Leafs have some depth at forward in the minors, I would want to keep Bracco, but Kappanen plus a lower prospect plus a 2nd rounder (Leafs have two next year) might get you a d-man that you don't have to wait 3-4 years for.

So Nylander is on the fourth line centering it. Smith is on the right wing...
Holland better be traded or at least waived by the time the game starts because I don't get how any sane person would put Smith on the wing over Holland.
Smith can do one thing not horribly. And that's faceoffs. Can't win any of those on the wing. |

Well he's on pace for 62pts a quarter through his 20 year old rookie season. I wouldn't think 70pts is an outlandish expectation through his prime, especially playing with Marner and/or Matthews in their primes.
Do you? - 1979AD
No clue its only 20 some odd games.....
He game out of gates fast.
My expectation for Nylander was 40 - 50pts this year if he played on the top two lines consistently.
Anything more is gravy.
For Marner it was the same.
Matthews its 45 - 55pts
But maybe, we trade for a Dman and he comes here and babs turns whoever it is into a top line D player...who knows...it could happen. so many variables. |
