Easy for you and I to say but we're not being paid 6 figures to do what you love. Hell I'm not even being paid 6 figures to do what I can tolerate.

I will give you two options which to choose from:

A) Earn $600,000. Watch hockey from a press box. Train with the best players in the world and workout. Travel first class and have all of your expenses covered. Save money for your families future.

B) Play hockey full time, earn $100K. Ride buses and play 3 times in 3 nights with limited ability to train. No future financial security as your career may last 1 more year or 5.

Which would you choose?

I dont normally throw out proposals, but from the last thread: Nichushkin (though he signed a 2-year deal in the KHL) is eligible to be taken in the expansion draft. I dont think Vegas uses a pick on him as Dallas has other decent assets, but would anyone considering a deal of Hansen for him? Just thinking of Dallas' win-now situation vs Vancouver affording the ability to let Nichushkin play out his deal and having an opportunity for him when he returns

Just curious how valuable people see those two for the franchises

Considering Horvat's talents are being wasted on this roster, I wonder what kind of return you could get for him.

If traded you can shift that talent to a later date. That gives team management time to compile a roster that has skill and potential on all lines, just not at one position.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of trading Horvat. He's more valuable as a trading chip.

Panthers would be a good place to start the bidding.

Edler was getting worse before WD so no you couldn't "just as easily".

Sure there are questions about why he uses Horvat the way he does. He has answered those questions when asked and the results are not contradicting him either. That doesn't change the narrative around here at all and that was the exact reason I made the sarcastic post. The accusations for the most part are flawed by the results. Now if you want to question why he puts his lines together "win first", sure... that is different than what I'm talking about.

Wait, can't he be like Vantel or Benning and make those hopeful trades?

Professional athletes are like artists. The ones with integrity don't care how much money they make as long as it's enough to keep doing what they're doing. They care more about the craft than the money that comes with it. Suggesting that the money is the only thing driving those guys careers is shortsighted

I'm confused how a potential WD firing would relate to hiring Tallon unless you meant Gallant. If you mean replacing WD with Gallant, I don't see the point, this is a bad team and will continue to be regardless of the coach at this point.

Bringing in Tallon to help Benning would also be pointless IMO considering he is on record of saying he prefers his new situation in Florida where he can focus on scouting and the new GM handles the day to day and paperwork.

Sorry my bad I meant Gallant...

You're thinking way too clearly in the afternoon. Of course you'd take the $600k if you're a Harvard grad like him because you make more than the early Harvard grad in the first couple of years after school and then when his career is over you make a ton more having to work as a stiff like the rest of us.

Me personally? I would take option A

If I had spent 15 or so years working towards a goal and came pretty damn close, I don't know that I would be so quick to sacrifice playing the game I love for a bit of extra cash.

I didn't realize that I said that He still plays hockey everyday...you are out to lunch if you think Biega wants a full time demotion and a 2 way contract. He is being rewarded for being a great leader in Utica the last couple of seasons

I would also take option A. $500K is a lot of cash. He will be set financially (if he invests wisely) and he can still play full time in the AHL or Europe after his contract is up.

He's a young talented, flaky player. Is this a far away version of Evander Kane we're trying to talk about instead? I don't know Dallas needs Miller than they need so if we offer them Miller plus a pick back at the TDL for Nichuskin would you go for it?
