Which is highly doubtful. Most teams have a few million dollars in players that are waiver eligible they can send down for the day.

Yeah, you can usually get $2M-$3M of waiver players. Still, having LTIR is not the same as having free money. If you use $1 worth of LTIR (worst possibly scenario), it's actually bad for you going forward that year, as it limits your ability to trade.

To answer your question, if I'm a GM, I'm probably taking Clarkson.

I suspect that's going to be consensus.

Funny the things a salary cap can do. Given the choice, a team would rather a guy sit on injury reserve permanently, then a guy who may score 15 or 20 goals in a season.

Well the hope is that you can use the cap savings (if you will) to find a guy who can score 15 to 20 goals for less.

So yes, the Bobby Ryan contract is a bad one, if that's what you're getting at. Most teams have a player like that.

Oh, I don't know if I would say most teams have a contract THAT bad. It's among the worst.

I would have to think Vrbata is high on that list. He's still showing ability to score, although I haven't watched any AZ games this year and not sure how his skating his holding up.

Yes Bobby Ryan is on pace for 32 - 33 points. I'll easily bet you he ends up with more than 40.

Just like we discussed 2 weeks ago when you said there is no way the Sens are making the playoffs. Still want to make that bet ???

Sens just beat Montreal & New York on back to back nights. Suck it

hi erik6karlsson5. I appreciate your input. but I suspect he will have to hit more than just 40 points for the general consensus to shift from thinking that David clarkson is a more desirable player with his contract right now than booby Ryan is with his. I suspect it would take more like 60 points. we all know he won't come close to that.

until he can get get to that 60 points to barrier we will just have to settle with the less crappie asset being clarkson.

I still do not believe the sens will make the playoffs, no. I've always maintained that December is where their schedule turns nasty and they will fall to the bottom of the standings.

Do I wish Ryan had a salary of $5 mill per? Sure I do, but he doesn't. I still think he can score 20G 30A this season. And hopefully he can contribute in the PLAYOFFS. Yes I said it. The Ottawa Senators will make the playoffs. The Toronto make me laughs will not.

shocker, another post that Ek starts and doesn't finish. I bet we don't see the whole list. Something comes up and this falls off his radar.

Who does a top 15 and starts off with a 15-10 anyways? 1-5, 6-10, 11-15.

I've been a fan of hockey buzz since he broke the trade on Peter Forsberg back in 2006ish on XM radio.

It's was okay for a few years but these last few I just continue to come for the entertainment and other peoples blogs.

Ek, I wish you would get back to what you started off as and not a click bait, you'll never guess who #7 is type blogger.

Just so you know, there is a whole list of reasons why Eklund has to write his articles this way. You won't believe #6!

He started off as a complete fraud and he still is one. He's as consistent as it gets. I'm only here for the entertainment.

Maybe we should finish the list and entertain ourselves. Maybe Ek will read our post and report #9 through # 4 it as his own. He will still forget to post #3 through # 1.
