All I know is I remember seeing a guy that was doing a project tracking this and only 16% of Abdelkaders hits generated possession.
- Feds91Stammer

You ever played a contact sport?

The effects of hits are cumulative.

Continuously pounding a guy will slow him down, make him more tentative. It may not have an effect on that shift, but it eventually will.

I guess my point is that they didn't have to fire him right on the spot. There's a little time between games so it's not as though you have to fire him immediately to prevent him from coaching the next game.
- lumlums

it's also possible that the GM was sick of him/angry at him / didn't like him, and wanted to screw him over. It wouldn't be the first time.

Goal differential is about as simple as it gets for finding a winning team.
- golfingsince

For sure, you just look at which roster had the best goal differential and then acquire all of those players. I can see how this would be an effective way to roster a team.

Statistics to back this up? Can u prove that it never works for puck recovery ?
Are you advocating only stick work in the defensive zone ?
Are you advocating for eliminating hitting altogether ?
What's the end game ?

Do you also have statistics that measure fatigue and the mental/physical toll hitting takes on a body over a game or a series ?
Like I mean the stat that says it makes no difference.

Or even Any record of nhl'ers saying as such ?

I can't help but get embarrassed for you after Every post I read of your attempts to pontificate on sh1t you know nothing about and can't prove, while still attempting to pigeon hole and condescend to those who disagree with you

Your posting SkillZ are weak

What I did, was respond to someone - on Twitter, didn't know who they were - who came across my feed with the slight complaint that a writer had called a religious story a myth. I correctly pointed out that as far as we know, all religious stories are myths.

I can see how by 2016 standards this basically makes me Hitler.

- James_Tanner

Too bad science did prove some religious stories to be true.

Once again... fail.

Or you could look at individuals that had above average goal differentials relative to their team and acquire them. But +/- is bad. Funny how it went from being an overvalued stat to an undervalued one so quickly.

It's all about shots now right?

I mean what sane hockey person wouldn't want Tanev taking 6 shots from the blue line over Stamkos taking 4 from the slot?

I can see how it's pretty difficult to know who they were, what with the words "Managing editor of SBNation's Raw Charge; editor at Pension Plan Puppets." in their bio.

And after your initial comment (which was a reply to a conversation you were not part of), you then went on to tell that same person that no religion was real. Classy move.

And yes, me pointing out that you were being a twat is absolutely the same as thinking that you are akin to a genocidal demagogue - good job, another home run

This is true, but assuming that the GM is a grown-ass man (last I checked he was), there's still a more professional way to act.

Plus minus is terrible. Looking solely at goal differential is terrible. Results based stats are not very good as they are often largely impacted but luck. You have usage, CF, SCF, xGF, avg shot distance, etc. to accurately evaluate a player and their impact on the game.

You're right, the guy who is a minus 50 was probably just got (frank)ed by line changes so many times and the guy who is a plus 50 was just fortunate.

Instead, we should look at expected goals.

Great flood is a fine example.

King Solomon's wall another one.

Not saying religion is science and that Jesus really walked on water... saying all "religious stories are myth" equals to talking BS.

Just like the rest of this stupid blog.
