You really have an odd eye for talent in my opinion.

So McCann, who was a more dynamic skater, better shooter, eclipsed Jake's hockey I.Q in every regard and who could naturally distribute the puck is, in your view, not a top 6 player where-as Jake is?

The only true asset Jake has demonstrated, albeit inconsistently, is the fact that he weighs 220 pounds and can skate in a straight line...

Hopefully he finds his offensive game but at this rate he's showing all the hallmarks of a Torre's type grinder at best

That said, I'd still refuse to swap him for Kane.

They both suck so far but they are kids. Let's wait a few years

I wasn't against getting Gudbranson, but with Tanev and Stecher on the right side and Tryamkin looking like he belongs, we are loaded up while we are missing some skill and offense in our forwards that McCann might have been able to contribute, now or later.

funny how it works out, maybe JB should have been a little more patient, yet I don't know how often I said we needed to add size and grit to our D.

Maybe later...

It's interesting how people on here applaud Benning for acquiring young players/prospects based on his scouting skills but totally dismiss him when he decides the player doesn't fill what he is looking for and moves him to shore up other holes.

Having a solid D core will go miles towards developing our youth. Having young experienced leadership in the dressing room instead of just graybeards for leadership helps as well. Having someone play big physical minutes every night that can protect our youth and doesn't have a bad rep with the officials goes a long ways as well...

I would call them chronic complainers but it's probably just a fantasy about not having a team older than 23 years old(Oilers Model) except for the contracts we cannot move.

...but then they would complain about the coach after every loss who wouldn't have a team to work with... more or less destroying the careers of the young goalies we would have...

I'm ok with Gudbranson because of his age. Stecher deciding he wanted to play in Vancouver was a blessing Benning couldn't predict.

I originally thought this signing was more about keeping Boeser focussed on signing with the Canucks with the outside hope we had a creative defenseman in some kind of capacity... but (frank) me sideways... I'm way more impressed with him than I was with Hutton and that's no knock on Hutton!

Right now he should be playing with Jake in Utica....developing into a good top six center.

I like how you praise Bennings scouting and then dismiss it not long after. It keeps me occupied when I'm bored.

Im a little worried about Virtanen being a bust, with the games he played in Utica for a former 6th overall i though hed be putting up more points. Granted i am comparing him to Rantanen who was a tenth overall pick and had 60 points in 52 ahl games last year, and looks good for the Avalanche this year

He doesn't get enough minutes yet because he isn't responsible enough with the time he gets. He needs minutes.

Reinhart plays great on the wing though. In fact, with his skating deficiency, I would think GM's see him more as a winger, and sometimes center, than a center.
- Retinalz

His skating deficiency is nowhere near as bad as Lefty makes it out. I honestly have not heard much mention of it after he was drafted... just here and from Lefty mostly.

There are lots of good players that his skating ability can be compared to. The Sedin's and Eriksson on this team for starters...

That's funny because the last time I seen you right after that Makita said"Don't worry guys ,I have taken care of him" That sounds like a ban to me.

And here you are again with no other purpose other than to annoy us. I am seeing another ban in your near future.
