We we get to protect so many guys that they really aren't gonna be left with much of a choice

Right now,
Looks like their best options could actually be Moulson or Gorges

Take a minute & select who you'd protect
Reinhart & Eichel are exempt
Pick 7 more forwards we can protect
Then choose any 3 defensemen to protect
Kulikov will be UFA, so they can't pick him & we don't have to protect him

- jdfitz77

Might make for an insane summer, since theres no way theyre gonna want 30 one way contracts, and they'll probably go for a UFA or 2, I bet you see them pick a few players for the sole purpose of trading them at the draft.

Maybe?
Also,
With a team like the Sabres...
instead of choosing Moulson or Gorges, they could take a younger guy with upside like Carrier & start him in the AHL

From Boston,
I could see them take young goalie prospect Subban for their minor league team / goalie of the future

"iii) One goaltender who is under contract in 2017-18 or will be a restricted free agent at the expiration of his current contract immediately prior to 2017-18. If the club elects to make a restricted free agent goaltender available in order to meet this requirement, that goaltender must have received his qualifying offer prior to the submission of the club's protected list."

With this being the requirements for what each team must expose to the expansion draft, which goalies do we have that qualify for this?

I believe this was a major factor in why GMTM made the Pysyk for Kulikov trade, as he must have figured Pysyk would be exposed and picked.
Further, perhaps our current positioning as you noted above, bodes well for GMTM making a trade for a veteran forward ... we can fit him in and not worry too much about losing a significant piece.

Can we choose to leave Bylsma unprotected?

Bishop, Neuvirth, and Mason are all UFA. MAF has a NMC. But there will be solid goalies available. Macolm Subban, Matt Murray (if they don't trade one of them), Calvin Pickard, one of Reimer/Luongo, etc
- chilliard77

They are required to pick three goalies in the draft though.

if he's truly lost the room this early in his tenure, and based upon the frustration we've seen both on and off the ice he could very well have, then a change might be needed...

but i'm not fully there yet

GMTM is the problem. He picked the coach and has provided the players.

Pegula was a fool to sign him to an extension BEFORE the players hit the ice this season.

GMTM will have to hit a home run with his next choice for HC.

I don't have that much of a problem with him to this point...the kane/myers trade is a huge issue with everyone, but people hated Stafford and were hating on myers...armia isn't anything special yet, and may not ever be...Lemieux looks to be a problem child and the 1st rounder turned into jack roslovic at #25

people are hating on the lehner trade, but a 21st overall has about a 20% or so chance of becoming an impact player...

and as for bylsma?...he has a resume that includes a Stanley cup

His last draft was also very good, even if Kris Baker is a homer according to some.

great signing, imo...best forward on the market after stamkos re-signed...people bag on murray for not being able to sign stammer, and Vesey as well, but there's only so much he can do...

buffalo's not exactly a primo destination at this point in time
